It's a downward spiraling circle: children are retarded, thus make the shows more "easy", thus making the children more retarded, repeat.
I got most of my knowledge from cartoons at that age, and I spoke the english language around my 6th year (I'm dutch)(who said tv-addiction is bad).
Recently children just don't know anything...
Their attention span is being shortened by cartoons, so their school results will suck as well.
