It's always perfectly fine to cheat in single player. It's not ok to cheat in multiplayer, though. Ever.
One exception to that. If you do use cheats on multiplayer, make sure you only using them against/with others who are using the same cheats.

P1 infinate ammo is hardly fair, but ALL PLAYERS infinate ammo? Fine, as long as you all aggreed to it.
P1 double health in multiplayer? No.
all players double health? just means you can hit each other for longer.
Never cheat on an online multiplayer though, no matter what.

This more or less. Cheating is always cheating... but it's not necessarily wrong to do so after you beat it and are replaying it.

Exactly.
Its still cheating, no matter what but, if you have already beaten the game then it really doesn't matter.
I do it myself(rummages to find his Action Replay) here, i have my cheat box right here.
Granted when i play games online i dont cheat, and most of the time my main cheats are Guides.

If a cheat code is there, I may use it. Especially if it means I can get a trophy. As long as I have fun, then why the fuck do people care? You shouldn't. If I bought the game, let m do what I want. =]

But generally, yes. I played through God of War II a second time just because I felt so awesome using the Blade of Olympus and what not. Not really cheating, but the items you get let you redefine the game in a way that basically makes it so easy, your grandmother could do it.

Technically yes, I chose no because it seems almost derogatory when you say cheating. I see it as testing the game, and just messing with it in a fun new way.

Nah, not really. I did that in Sim Theme Park all the time, i beat the game legitimately and the next time i just wanted an insanely awesome park so i cheated. It was fun i still check out my park 8 years later. YES I HAVE IT SAVED ON DISC!

Haha, how lame am i.

Well, yes technically, but if it's the second time, no I don't think it's cheating. And if it is, who cares? You're having fun, and you've already experienced the full game.

I do the same thing because I don't want to go through that level where it's extremely boring/frustrating to play again.

Games are meant to be enjoyed. If you can only do that at level 100 bending the powers of space-time to your whim and breaking the physics engine at every turn. Then so be it. Knock yourself the fuck out. Is it really cheating if it only affects you anyway?

Whu... Wha... Huh...?

Why should you care what anyone else thinks? ME2 has no multiplayer component. If you bought the game you have the right to do whatever you want with it, however you want with it. Play with 50 cheats or no cheats at all. It's entirely up to you. Entirely. No one should ever tell you how to enjoy a game YOU bought.

Just have fun. That's what it's there for.

Fellow Escapist, I'm having a bit of a problem. I have already beaten mass effect 2 twice now, and am currently working on my third play through. Today, I was playing and looked over at my girlfriends computer and she randomly had up cheats on the game. I didn't really pay attention until I found this one cheat that lets you max out all powers(Basically spending experience and getting it back, so you can spend it again). I didn't think it would work. So I keep playing and then later I decide "what the hell, lets try it" Lo and behold it works.

Now I've already beaten the game at least once, so I'm posing the question and the decision to the rest of you. Is it really cheating if you've already beaten the game once without cheating?

EDIT:Spelling

There's cheats for Mass Effect 2? On 360, or just mucking about with the Console on PC?

I'd say it's still cheating but it doesn't matter because you already beat the game without cheating! It's like winning the world cup and then cheating in a practice match afterwards!

Yes, cheating is cheating. You are obviously a vile, depraved individual and need to be committed for even thinking about cheating in a game you've beaten....2-3 times? Ugh, people like you make me sick.[sub]sarcasm people, sarcasm[/sub]
