I'm wondering what people's stance on Bunnyhopping is, personally I use the jump key while sprinting to scope in with my MP5 while maintaining my speed.

...I guess you could say my motivation for the thread was I got kicked for 'excessive' use of the bunnyhop.

EDIT: Bunnyhop - To use the jump button, in what would be considered unrealistic ways. EX: Jumping to dodge bullets and throw off the enemy's aim.

I have no idea what bunnyhopping is, unless you're just using a very stupid term for "using the jump button".

On 360 they call you "Halo Jumpers" for excessive jumping. There is absolutely nothing wrong with jumping, or drop shotting which is another thing people complain about. It's not like you're camping or chucking random grenades or whatever. It's just jumping.

It's when you jump in a first person shooter repeatedly while moving to gain tons of speed.

I don't play CoD 4 so I don't really have a stance, but in other games it's a bit annoying.

back in the ol days of the pc fps, bunnyhopping was used to maneuver faster then just walking. It was strafing while jumping or something like that. It was a 'skill' that was used, and if mastered, you could pretty much fly across maps. Very fast gameplay if used...I grew up on the technique (or exploit, whatever you want to call it) so I like it.

It's never stopped me killing people in other games, so I don't care if they use it.

I tend not to, I may jump once or twice in games, if I think someone's about to shoot me and I want a quick solution to disrupt their aim. Doesn't work more than once against a skilled player though.

Well on the 360, we call it 'Halo Jumping' for obvious reasons.
I cant stand it. I also cant stand the people that immediately go into a prone position the instant a single bullet hits them. So cheap. But thats me being a whiny little *****.

The proning IMO is cheap. I can't stand when people do that because they drop so quickly that you can't tell if you killed them or somebody else did.

maddawg IAJI

Seems a little silly in my opinon, but otherwise I don't really care if someone does it or not.

Against.
i'm not familiar with this 'bunnyhop' (nor have i played CoD4) but i have played other FPS games, where people would do this these type of '1337' moves, and they were horrible, because they were super effective, and highly annoying for the other people, and just boring for the people doing it. it takes the fun out of the game, its cheap.

Every world war documentary I have ever seen depicts soldiers bunnyhopping constantly as part of their efforts to totally grief the other side.

The history channel is actually showing some unreleased footage of allied troops teabagging SS soldiers during the battle of the bulge.

if someone jumps on halo, i rape them, so that game i have no idea why someone would be complaining

drop shotting while bunny jump strafing can be annoying depending on what game and on how fast the game reacts with it, there are some games where it is incredibly over spammed and is annoying as hell, but some do it right which i have no problem with

Well that's kinda the point. The goal is to either fool the enemy into thinking they killed you (rarely works) or to give the enemy a smaller target to hit. If it didn't work so damn well I wouldn't do it, but you wouldn't believe how many players haven't caught on to drop shots by now. I mean... it's been an overly used tactic for a really long time.

In the old days of Counter-Strike, you can use it to get the position advantage on certain maps, because you can camp on spots where your enemies will camp before they even get there.

What about dropshotting? I don't care if anyone bunnyhops, unless they do it as they go through a doorway, or after they stun someone.
