Oh, I was talking about silly console gamers having to pay $10 more for essentially handicapped games in general.
Quit yapping...It isn't easy putting a pc together and not fucking up if your not experienced.
It isn't easy not having mommy and daddy spend $60 each on a shiny toy on you so you can go play with a $250 to $400 bigger toy either :p
You have to do the same with a PC.(Replace 60$ with 50$.)
Cease and desist both of you. we don't need another PC vs Console thread. Thank you.

Anyway, on topic. I think it is fair to compare WaW with CoD4, they are both basically the same game, set in different time periods, with the proper weapons on each. both use the same game engine, have very similar gameplay, and use the same multiplayer system as far as I can see. CoD4 did it better, though WaW has its high points (zombie nazi's FTW) and both have their low points (Martyrdom).
We all know who wins this fight. The PC! Weilding a shining +9001 bitchsmack to consoles bastard sword with flame-proof armor. I wish SY, MS, Nin supplied us better..

Ok, this bullshit has gotta stop.

Because of the idiotic ad campaign where the basic tag was "World at War is like CoD4 in these aspects, but with this added", all people do is compare it with CoD4.

THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD. THEY DO NOT USE 100% OF THE SAME GUNS. IT IS LIKE COMPARING TEAM FORTRESS 2 TO LEFT 4 DEAD: PUBLISHED BY THE SAME COMPANY, MADE BY 2 DIFFERENT COMPANIES WHO USED THE SAME ENGINE.

Also, I've never seen a thread like "Half-Life 2 Episode 1 or Half-Life 2 Episode 2: Which is better?" Why? Because they are 2 different games. Neither is a remake. They were made out of one reason: keep the fans happy.

Isn't there a rule against "X versus Y" threads anyway?
BECAUSE CAPS LOCK MAKES YOU RIGHT RIGHT? YOU SHOULD ALSO START OVERUSING PUNCTUATION SO IT GETS THE MESSAGE ACROSS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111.

...Anyway... Yeah, you might have noticed CoD5 is kind of a blatant rip of CoD4... The interface, the multiplayer - down to the unlockables and perks. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're not the same game, we know. But they're sure as hell trying to be.

...And yeah, you're wrong. Comparing titles from the same series is quite normal. Would be like saying Final Fantasy IX and X, or Burnout 2 and 3, or any other 2 games from the same series really, CAN NEVER BE COMPARED!!!

Yeah, you really shouldn't give opinions on games without talking about the campaign mode. however it's true that as far as multiplayer goes, it's essentially COD4 with the weapons scaled back to suit the time period, and the game looks pretty damn similar. but that tends to happen when you release two of the same style games without any tech advances between release. They released them with so little gap in between (in fact, almost exactly a year), they didn't have time to change much other than the campaign and how old the weapons are.

To everyone who says they can't be compared because they're different games and blah blah blah. Yes, They can be compared. Not because they were made by the same company, but because they're almost the same game. WaW doesn't even seem to be it's own game, more like an add on or mod of CoD4. The actual gameplay is almost identical, even if the maps have been switched.

Also just to shut everyone up about who developed L4D, directly from the Steam L4D info page:

Title: Left 4 Dead
Genre: Action
Developer: Valve
Publisher: Valve
Release Date: Nov 17, 2008

Please note: CALL OF DUTY WORLD AT WAR IS NOT MEANT TO BE CALL OF DUTY 4. THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT GAMES. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. Can we stop these "X versus Y" threads for God's sake?
It is meant to be a sequal building off the success of the original and removing the failings to create a better product, if they didn't want it compared it shouldn't have been named COD5.
Good job it wasn't called COD5 then, isn't it?

Yes, COD : WaW is a very similar game to COD 4. But is that a bad thing? COD : WaW is still a very good game - something people don't give it enough credit for. Personally I found the campaign to be challenging and exciting. Something I cannot say for COD 4.

As for the multi-player - it depends what time period you prefer.

They included vehicles? Again? Didn't they learn from CoD3 that vehicles don't work in a WW2 enviroment? The average soldier didn't carry enough explosives around to successfully take out a tank. It only worked in the campaign of two because they gave you C-4, and even then tanks were a ***** to kill.

Also, and I know this will seem nitpicky, but I see one fact above all others that outlines that Treyarch were essentialy trying to make CoD4 in a World War 2 setting: Silencers wern't invented until Vietnam. I have no idea why they're being handed out to soldiers in WW2...

Didn't people put potatoes on the ends of their guns to achieve the same effect?

It doesn't just seem nitpicky, but it is utterly false.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor

Early suppressors were created around the beginning of the 20th century by several inventors. American inventor Hiram Maxim is credited with inventing and selling the first commercially successful models circa 1902.
Suppressors were regularly used by American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) agents during World War II, who favored the newly-designed High Standard HDM .22 Long Rifle pistol. "Wild Bill" Donovan, director of the OSS, demonstrated the pistol for President Roosevelt at the White House. According to OSS research chief Stanley Lovell,[6] Donovan (an old and trusted friend of the President) was waved into the Oval Office, where Roosevelt was dictating a letter. While Roosevelt finished his letter, Donovan turned his back and fired ten shots into a sandbag he had brought with him, announced what he had done and handed the smoking gun to the astonished president.

Huh. That'll make me question my sources more thoroughly in future.

Call of Duty: United Offensive had vehicles.

I like CoD: WaW better. Reminds me of my Return to Castle Wolfenstein days of which I am so fond of.

I'm really liking CoD 4 but I'm finding the multiplayer a little hard to get used to. I'm pretty good at CS:S and TF2, but I can barely manage a 1:1 ratio most matches in cod 4. 90% of my deaths seem to come from enemies I never saw whether they be from a sniper in a window half the map away or a random grenade tossed over a rooftop. It's very frustrating.

And they sure as hell weren't overpowered, there! Especially in urban terrain.. quickly jump from behind that building, sprint up to the tank.. unleash the fury of whatever rocket launcher you had in your hands, and kablooie.

Also, plenty of tanks to counter with, static 88s and satchels.

While you do make a valid point, the exception is applicable here. The game(I refuse to call it by its initials, by the way) is nothing what a bunch of dedicated people couldn't do from their own bedrooms. Call of Duty 4,5 is nothing but a mod of Call of Duty 4.

Anyone who thinks CoD4 and CoD: WaW aren't alike is a complete retard. It uses the exact same engine, recycled HUD's, attachments, gameplay elements. The whole game feels like a CoD4 mod, the only changes being graphical and the addition of vehicles (which are the most annoying things ever, I'll never whine about CoD4's lack of vehicles EVER again). CoD: WaW = biggest waste of $50 ever. This is all a big money grab from Treyarch and unfortunatly, Infinity Ward as well.

Well, yes, Team Fortress 2 was developed by Valve. Not L4D. +20 Internets for anyone who can find the developers. Hint: IT'S NOT VALVe
TurtleRock studios I believe.
