I'm gonna have to try it first, but these changes definitely sound like they were removing some of what made command and conquer what it is/was.

Short answer: LOLNO
Long answer: The problem EA faces is the sheer number of other big RTS titles (DoW2, WiC, etc) that have sold rather well. The natural choice is to copy what they've done, but in doing so they have alienated the core fanbase-the people who would have bought the game as long as it featured green stuff, bases, and Kane. Since these now pissed-off fanboys are also the loudest on the interwebz, the game is getting a horrible rep even before it is released. If EA is hoping for a CoD6:MW2-esque profit, well, I hope they're not holding their breath...
It doesn't help that EA publicly announced the C&C team would be laid off once the game was released like 4-5 months ago. Nothing motivates a team more than the knowledge that they lose their jobs no matter what right?

Hmm when I click "View Results" it won't let me, it's like that on every poll I think the site administrators need to have a look at it.

Wow didnt know that one. Honestly would you make the greatest game you could if you were going to get fired after it was done.

Apart from being one of the most stalwart Starcraft and Warcraft purist you may ever meet, I highly enjoyed both command and conquer and dawn of war. Innovation is ke in my opinion for a sequal to be better than the original (unless what you had originally was perfect, like Starcraft.) I enjoyed DoW 2 as an interesting diversion from the original formula, I also enjoyed Halo Wars, for the small amount of time it kept me interested.

So, in short, Although have enjoyed previous C&C incarnations, A changeup would not be so bad.

I don't know if we can even refer to it as a Command & Conquer game anymore. EA has taken out everything that made it a Command & Conquer game! With no base building, harvesting, and no real single player campaign, it has almost none of the qualities that made the franchise great! I think that EA is just trying to kill it off. I hope they take some financial pain for it in the process!

If EA is seeking a chance to eliminate the series why not send it off with a bang rather than some shitty final movement. The C & C franchise was still going strong with some exceptions (*cough red alert 3 cough*) What else does EA have to look forward to, Madden?

C&C died after Generals
No, and I have to say your opinion is very much supported by all the facts you state after the 4th word. Whatever you think, C&C didn't die yet, but IMO soon will.
You can't tell me with a straight face you thought Red Alert 3 was good, surely
Compared to C&C4 I can. Even without comparing it I can :p

when i bought cnc 3 i fell in love, it was great. then kane's wrath came out, and it wasn't great. later i played some red alert 3 and it would have been great if it wasn't for the stupid gold mine system (and the fact that the ally's got the worst build system of the 3). and now THIS!?!

did they simply say "well people didn't like the harvesting from ra3 so that must mean scraping it all together is the right thing to do"

loading ready run said that EA is trying to "SUCK LESS" and to tell you the truth i don't see it

a good idea would have been to keep the MCV and the same harvesting from cnc 3. and maybe adept the whole diffrent ways of building from ra3 (hopefully better balanced then ra3).
and for the love of god tell me they didn't take out the super weapons!

Well, the first reviews are in. And let's be honest, if Gamespot gives a high-profile game a 7, that means that a lesser publisher would have gotten a 6 or less. And there isn't a more suck-up review site than GS (except maybe IGN)...

I'm probably one of few who, having played the game, Fucking loves it. Of course I also still play Gundam Crossfire from time to time so maybe my opinion isn't great to go on. Of course I'm not really a purist either so saying goodbye to base building (fuuuck my fuckin power plants!) wasn't that bad for me. Personally I found that the unit on unit combat had sort of a Warcraft 3 feel to it, with small numbers of tough units instead of legions of cannonfodder. And it worked. For me at least.

Watching the changes of C&C over the years can only be compared to watching a really good friend slowly died of a terrible disease. At one point I was very excited as my dear friend seemed to be getting better (Generals & Zero Hour) but the had a terrible relapse and are now worse then ever. The original C&C is still my favorite RTS game and watching what has happened over the years is terrible.

Please, for the love of god don't tell me C&C has turned into that steaming mound of shit that is DoW2.

I know people on this site like DoW2 but I have absolutely no idea were the fun is, it takes four clicks of the mouse to build the best units.

Were is the strategy in that? Build loads of crap cheap units or a few expensive powerhouses? You can't even build a building.

Its like ghost recon except you don't even pull the trigger, you click one button to get your squad to do it.

Compared to the old style of RTS games were even the layout of your base is important.

Man, I wish I never spent my money on that.

I'm quite curious how many people have bought it and like it. I'd also like to know (from those of you who have played it) whether the story redeems it or not.
Just going by the reviews I've read, the game is an all-out disappointment. A shame really...

I have never played a Command and Conquer game, but an RTS without resource harvesting is not an RTS for me.

The only reason I'm interested in C&c4, is to see how the story ends.

Word is, the game is so bad, it's not even worth pirating.

sixes and sevens? That's hardly a disappointment, though it is a little disappointing.

Please keep in mind that this is the final game of a highly popular series (at least of this story arc). Any score less than 9 is a failure in the eyes of fans.
And after having watched the endings on youtube, I have lost all interest in this game.
