I'd be worshipping my PC if it could run anything. When I get my MacBook Pro, I'll be worshipping it then.

Anyway, I chose 360+PS3, as they're the better in my opinion, the Wii just got tedious.

"everyone who plays the most demanding FPS games out there, Quake and Unreal" is as talented as Fatal1ty with a keyboard? I had no idea! Does that mean everyone who plays Halo is as talented at aiming with a controller as this:

He, you gave a much better example than me.

You're given the capability to do so. And you don't even need to be Jonathan Wendel. I've gotten my ass served with mid-air rail and mid-air rocket frags (and done a little bit myself!) quite a few times playing in just the low tier skillmatched games in Quake Live.

Don't you ever wonder why console FPS games limit the possibilities to move, act, and react in the Z-axis so much?

Hey! I have 10 invites to Quake Live. Would you like one? :)
Aww man, I'd kill for one invite.

...Please ask me to kill someone...

If someone told me to pick one or two consoles - SNES and Gameboy Advanced. N64 was nice, too.

I'd like to know where these FPS games are where analog movement is as crucial as aim.
There aren't any. I just don't like keyboard. Mouse is cool, obiously, although personally I prefer console controllers because that's what I'm used to. They feel more comfortable to me (and know, this is not an excuse for some fanatic to open up a massive argument on the subject of ergonomics). I also think that anyone who believes that being on PC means you are using more skill is a fool. Any game where there is an obvious difference between those who are better and those who are worse requires skill.

See i don't see the point in bitching about which kind of console you have, yes ok i relish the PS3 but i've been stuck with one, it was the only other console i had apart from the Nintendo 64 but that being said i do actually prefer PS3 to any other console but i don't hate the others or ***** about how the PS3 is better i mean it's just my personal opinion, plus cults are for people who have nothing better to do with their time and cults for consoles well, i don't see the people who join those to have more than a functioning IQ of 0.2

For most FPS games, the WASD input is more than sufficient. It is, in fact, less precise than an analog stick but that precison is not even remotely necessary. Generally, my movement speed in a FPS game is going to be dictated by the maximum speed my character can move when standing, when crouching and (possibly) when prone. Most of my character movement consists of straight forward and backward key inputs, though the path is obviously modified by mouse looking.

When it comes to AIMING however, I believe both consoles and mice offer similar levels of inherent precision. Mouse aiming can however allow for both speed and precision whereas on a console you trade one for another naturally. In PC FPS games, I actually try to make difficult mid air shots (Tribes 2 mid air disc hits were especially difficult, I got pretty good at direct hits with the rocket launcher in Quake 3) - in most console FPS games such shots are far too difficult to even consider.

That being said, many console games are designed around this limitation as you point out. Often, the key to victory is either rapid target acquisition and ability to follow a moving target (halo) or precise target acquisition (Call of Duty 4). Rarely does a console game attempt to require BOTH. Counter Strike is an excellent example of this theory in action. Quickly acquiring a target and tracking a moving target is only part of the battle. In order to actually come out on top, you are requird to have enough precision to ensure that your rounds more or less land in the upper torso and head. Just as important, most console games tend to have a much slower movement speed applied to players. There were times in the old days of quake 3 that I'm sure my movement speed was easily a few dozen MPH - in halo, you simply cannot move much faster than the average person can sprint. In Tribes, in the fastest paced battles among light armors, player speeds are likely in excess of 80 MPH (that is indeed a number I pulled from my ass - you can cross a 1km stretch in well under a minute however), and there was tremendous movement on the Z axis. In order to be remotely playable on the console port (PS2) there was a very lenient auto aiming system - if you could keep the opposing player SOMEWHERE in the middle of the screen, the game took care of aiming up to and including leading the target. It made you feel like a badass but it also limited how important individual player skill was to overall success in the endeavor.

I don't see the SNES on the list so I can't partake in this poll.

I find it funny how the poll reflects that people are in love with any. Yet there are several fanboy threads a day on here and nearly every gaming discussion board around.

Saying that there is a lot more people who more unbiased on this forum than the other forums I troll at work.

I voted for PS3 & Xbox.

I use my original xbox with media centre all the time. 360 and PS3 for gaming and PC for downloads and etc.. PC gaming has gone a bit stale for me at the moment.. I dont play WoW anymore and all there is to play really is TF2, CSS or L4D which im really sick of since ive been playing them since release. Games which I was looking forward to like DoW2 were a bit of a let down.. doubt id even get a copy of the game now.

But between the 360 and PS3 im leaning towards the 360. Just the lack of things on the PSN store and DLC (fallout GTA and Orange Box if you got it). Its a shame because I got my PS3 first and most of my games are on it.

My PC is unreliable, my Wii doesn't have any good games coming to it any more, so my PS3 is my favorite. "The PS3 is big dependable black monster, slow but lovingly bringing in your slippers every morning" (Zero Punctuation). That's all I want from a console.

Why would you form a cult around a physical object, especially one as common as video game consoles. You want a cult to be formed around *you*, so your cult members give you money, their possessions, and themselves unto you.

I worship nothing.

All three consoles have nothing we haven't seen before (except the Blu-Ray from the PS3).
I wouldn't call be able to watch movies something I've not seen before, the PS3 is very powerful, but not innovative.

I'm not choosing any, I've dilly dallied with all of them, i've only been offended by Halo 3 so far on the Xbox.
I never said that it is innovative but it is something new for a console.
I'm confused, what about Blu ray is new?, its just a format for disc's, Compact Disc's were new in 1982, blu ray is just the next logical step for that tech.
Just because it has bigger memory, doesn't mean its a new thing.

I like the PS3, it just gets my goat about people calling it new tech, its not, the CELL processor is a RISC processor thats multi threaded, which has been done before, blu ray is just a disc format.

Sorry to bang on at you, its not your fault I feel this way! :D
but it still grabs my goat!
It is something new because the PS3 is the first console which uses Blu-Ray. I meant that.

PC FTW!!!! Graphics that are better than the best either console can offer, more in-depth games, a control scheme head, shoulders, breasts, hips, and thights above console crap? Yea, I will stick with that.
Graphics are better okay but the thing about controls and in-depth are your opinion.

I don't know why PC fanboys think that their controls are the best. The mouse is the only thing which is a pro. WASD (or anything like it) is still too unprecise for most games.
For first person shooter games, could you explain how it is still too imprecise? It's not like you typically need anything more than binary digital inputs for gross movements in competitive online multiplayer games.
Especially in FPS's it's too unprecise. If you press W,A,S or D you move too fast, too far in one direction and this can be bad if you are behind something.

None. I'm aware of the flaws of all the consoles (painfully so of the 360's RROD, just had it die on me a few days ago) and yet prefer the Xbox 360. Though I certainly wouldn't pass up the chance to get a PS3 free, or cheaper than retail even. To be honest I don't really give a damn about the Wii, nothing on it grabs my interest.

Though if we include more than just the big 3 of today, i'd would go for the PC above all else, no matter what shit it throws at me, as the options are innumerable.
