A while ago I created this thread: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.150179?page=1. Basically I said that I thought RTS games were better off on consoles. That is not entirely true. What I meant to say is that I personally prefer using a joystick to select my units in an RTS as apposed to using a mouse. I personally felt that it was more organic, and in my case, actually more accurate than clicking and dragging. That's all I'm saying. Do you see where I'm coming from?

Was it necessary to create a whole new thread to state that?

And yes, I do "see where you're coming from". But I disagree. The keyboard allows for more organised and tactical gameplay.

It all depends on what type of gamer you are. I would perfer the mouse for more control, but you have your opinion and I have mine.

i agree. but only because the ONLY rts i've ever enjoyed was on console. alien vs predator. it wasn't a brilliant game, but i'm not an rts fan in general and it entertained me more than any other.

I see where you're coming from but console RTS's are very clunky compared to PC ones. The mouse and keyboard in this case are far superior to a controller because of how accurate they are.
Also if you really wanted to you could just hook up a controller to your PC. (Kind off topic but whatever.)

No, you are wrong. You prefer RTSes on consoles, but they will always be better on PCs, because of the objectively higher amount of precise control you have at your fingertips.

I've never tried playing an RTS on a console, but I can't imagine a controller being very intuitive for tactical until control. I'll stick to the PC for the few RTS' that I play.

More keys = more functionality. It's less about the mouse and more about the keyboard. RTS games on PC will *always* be superior, until Console RTS games start utilizing the usb keyboard.

This, and a keyboard allows for a hayoogely larger number of hotkeys...~

Well If I'm wrong then you're wrong too because I'm agreeing with you. I just prefer console RTS's I never said one was better.

I'm sorry I see what you mean but RTS games are always better with a keyboard and mouse I have played both and I have to say keyboard and mouse kicks ass compared to controller.

I love those Kirovs.

Get about 10 and you can wipe out the entire enemy base in one go.
On RA2, at least.

OT: If they could bring back the drag-select thing they used in RA1 for the PS1, then they'd be so much easier to play on the consoles.

"I don't agree with you, but I see how someone could feel that way." because tastes differ.

But RTS games need a mouse or WAY better console control schemes.

He's wrong about his own opinion? He doesn't know his own mind?

Meh, I'm just waiting for Natal. That'll be brilliant with RTSs :D

No, no, no. A million times no.

I could go on and on about it, but I'll just summarize it in one: hotkeys. Try beating someone at Starcraft while you play on a console and the other guy, of precisely the same skill as you, is on a PC.

What a waste of a thread. Dont keep making threads about the same thing. Next thing you know you are gonna make another RTS console thread citing this thread. Quit making fucking dumb threads you have already made before.
