Poll: Could Pokemon do Horror?

Definitely not with the current format, you can see all the bad guys coming. And even if they get the jump on you, they can't exactly do anything until the battle screen loads up.
And then... turn based battling! Yipes! I can think of nothing scarier.

Besides, no matter how much we all love it, Pokemon is for kids. Their major appeal is that they're cute. Give them gats and they'd still look cute, but in a gangsta kind of way

Just had an idea! Quicktime events! that would be good for tension.

If they do it seriously (same factor as Higurashi) then maybe... but it would definitely have to be an 18 (justified) to be any good, and they wouldn't go for that.

Pretty morbid stuff. Horror is just scary morbid. Not to mention, the idea of poket monsters that we barely understand running around wielding the power of the freaking cosmos is pretty scary in itself.

Well I think it could. I mean you're always told to walk through some dark cave at some point, right? SO you'd be walking through this cave, and occasional bat things squeeking and stuff. And then out of no where an onix erupts from the ground and crushes you! Or baing chased through a house or somthing by the ghosts, or the woods by some other strange critter....

You'd have to redesign the art of course, but with the proper feel to it it could be done.

Survival Horror genre maybe?

Bear with me here, I've never played a Pokemon game in my life and know almost nothing about it, but - isn't there some pokemon, an insectile one with a hole in it's back or something, that according to legend can steal your soul if you look into it? Well, just make that real. And those ones that wear a skull on their head? Make it a human skull, and show one brutally murder somebody to get their skull.

See, not so far-fetched, is it?

The one with the skull is already disturbing, considering that it wears it's mother's skull.

Oh, and not sure if you did it intentionally, but there is a Pokemon called Farfetch'd

I hate myself for knowing this, the one that wears it's mother's skull is Cubone, it evolves into Marrowak.

I think that this is a very plausible solution. But also, what if they did something where the bad guys actually succeeded in their plans? Like if Team Rocket actualy got their shit together, and took over the world?
Or maybe what if there was some kind of apocalypse? Like the bad guys launched a nuke, and blew up everything, and all the creatures mutated?
Or the Heroes find themselves in an abandoned lab of some kind, that has wild experiments gon awry?

Those would be good ideas for bringing horror to the show, but it's too fluffy like a marshmallow to do that right now.

Too much cuteness! They couldn't pull off horror without coming across as just a funny parody. I must say that Nurse Joy with a cleaver does sound exciting. I mean there are so damn many of them and one of them goes fucking insane. She could kill other Nurse Joys and take their places to evade the law.

Here's another idea; Geovanni tries to take over the world again, this time with brainwashed Pokemon. These Pokemon kill...
It can start out as an action/gore, and then as the world falls into the depths of Oblivion, a survival horror, trying to evade the new, bloodthirsty Pokemon.

OH YEAH, ans Scyther goes on a rampage when he sees red right? Blood is red...

I would love to do it as a Summer or College project, but I have no idea how to animate or script. I still have a ways to go.

Anybody know any more contradictions of existence?
