From the looks of it, the E3 announcement Crackdown 2 has gone generally overlooked. I mean, I know that Metal Gear Rising is coming to the 360, that Nintendo and Team Ninja are making a Metroid game, that Nintendo is buying hookers for the first million people who buy a Wii Vitality Sensor, etc, but what about Crackdown 2?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first game, even though it had a few quirks that kept it from being sublime. Crackdown 2 looks like it's gonna be a perfect follow up; just instead of ethnic stereotypes, you fight zombies (and possibly the zombies of ethnic stereotypes.)

Please, tell me SOME of you are a little excited. If not, tell me why?

Why is it that every game developer relies on the same thing when it comes to sequels: Zombies.
I mean.. Shellshock 2, Crackdown 2, Left 4 Dead 2 (Ok, so thats a cheapshot.)
Just seemed odd.
OT: Yeah It looks pretty sweet.

It looks awesome, but as is I can't really tell. A short video isn't enough to really judge the game. Hope it is well made though, I'm a big fan of the first and can't wait to see 2.

It looks okay, but since it isn't being developed by the original developers I'm not holding my breath.

I loved the first one and I'm looking forward to this. I just hope you can turn off the advisor guy this time around and made sure that civillians no longer walk directly in front of your vehicle and while we're at it make leveling up the driving less tedious and cars control better.

Crackdown is by definition an underappreciated gem, it was highly thought of and was a very good game but I never really heard it mentioned anywhere and not many people made a fuss of it (hell, I only heard about it because I was curious when I saw it in my friend's game collection).

I preferred the marketing of the first one, the super cop reminded me of Bishop from the X Men.

Loved the first one, excited for the follow up. Honestly though, it hasn't gotten much coverage. I only just heard about it. I guess people are too busy bitching about Valve's L4D2 announcement and Ninty's stupid pulse sensor doohickey to exhibit any actual enthusiasm for anything. *sigh*

I enjoy Crackdown to a degree that no man should love any piece of software. Many nights stretched on far too long as I would tell myself, "Just one more jump, then bed. Wait, is that an agility orb? I'll get then, then bed. I just leveled up my agility? I can jump five feet higher? Okay, 1100 more jumps, then bed."

So as long as Crackdown 2 lets me jump, I'm set.

I liked Crackdown and I thought it had room for improvements.

So if Crackdown 2 doesn't completely drop the ball i'll like it. Even better, if they can make improvements.

Zombies? When did this happen?
And looks really good, the first Crackdown was excellent, and with 4-Player Co-Op for this and an even better story with no shit-inside out endings it looks pretty good.
There are no zombies! This guy just fails at the metaphor when the agency guy says that the streets are infected and we are the cure. He is talking about crime not fucking zombies!

See for yourself here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnnhj0rBZIg

Note the way the man runs from the agent rather than groan and stagger foward. Note the way the word zombie isn't used and infected is only used in terms of metaphor. Finally note how sinister the announcer is; we can infer that this game will be about working for then fighting the agency. However note the shadow at the end, it resembles the mutants you may have fought in the science labs of the game.

Therefore we can infer that the OP is just projecting his own zombie fantasy and you will be fighting criminals while being attacked by possibly agency related mutants who escaped into the sewers.

If I am wrong and this game is about zombies I will publicly apologise. Then I will rant about them ruining a good thing with zombies which are sooo 2005. Fallout 3 has shown us that the future is mutants!

Care to tell me why the shadow reflecting off the wall looks like a Fucking Tyrant Ala Resident Evil?
I'll bet anything that there is an outbreak (Virus.) This is common among developers in this day in age. I could be wrong, and I probably am, but it seemed like they were giving subtle hints as to a biochemical outbreak of sorts (The very beginning being what looks like a shot of human veins, and the aformentioned man who looks like he is a Tank/Tyrant Hybrid around 1:06. There is something Much more than just Human enemies this time around..

They also come out of the sewer but that don't make them mutant ninja turtles. When you entire the science labs of the Shai-Gen to kill Balthizar Chernencko you find "freaks" which look exactly like the shadow seen in the Crackdown 2 trailer. It is much more reasonable to expect that they escaped or are being used by the agency to keep agents in check. To provide more evidence of my freak theory than your "zombie" theory, watch a clip of them and see the similarities: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n__sfDX5Nxg (This clip is of all the Shai Gen generals and other than a quick preview of a freak at the begining you can see the section with them from 9:00-11:00

I'm looking forward to another Crackdown game as even in light of inFamous I think it's the best free world "superhero" game released.

HOWEVER I hope that when it's done they put as much effort/content into it as the various free world crime games have nowadays. A big part of the appeal of the sandbox genere is to have like a bajillion things to do. In like Oblivion (an RPG admittedly) there were like a million sidequests. In games like Saint's Row 2 you had like a dozen differant side missions that upgraded features. Then you have things (in GTA IV and SR 2) like the radio stations, or even in the case of GTA IV TV shows.

If it's just another "kill things and run races as a side activity" set up I'll be a bit disappointed.

Crackdown was awesome for the following reasons:

Best sandbox gameplay of any game (including GTA)...

the freedom for the player to be creative and make thier own fun... (just look at the many many youtube vids of people arsing around in the game)

the sheer amount of time I spent leaping around the skyscrapers just for the buzz...

climbing the agency tower again and again just to jump off the top...

who wants to outrun the cops when you can PICK UP THIER CAR AND THROW IT AT THEM.

if C2 has a better storyline and tighter driving then it will be a GTA beater
