a balance of the two.

but generally depends.

in Darksiders 2 for example i generally stuck to the faster sub weapons like the bucklers and claws, due to what the did, or in the claws case, the ability i got from then (Echinda's Claws own btw)

High damage and accuracy beats mindless spray-and-pray any day of the week. It takes no skill at all to launch twenty attacks knowing that a few of them will get through; but a single well placed killer shot? Priceless.

Depends ENTIRELY on the skill of the person wielding either weapon, which is dependent upon the game you're playing.

Example; in Skyrim, I just can't hack at duel wielding. I'm probably doing the build wrong, but the bigger weapons just suit me more (as well as the weapon/shield combo). In something like Dragon Age, I can be suited to a assassin/rogue just fine and do the most damage to one target in the entire party.

. . . . . On the flip side, I will always choose a sniper in any video game where ranged weapons are predominately the method of destruction. Slow to reload, but one well-placed shot to the head is enough. I classify that as slow but powerful, but it relies entirely on skill.

There's just no clear cut answer here. It seriously just depends.

I like sniping, or sneaking up on people and cutting them down with a single dagger thrust.

So I guess I count as slow and powerful, but not in the general huge bloody hammer sort of way.

Like Combine Rustler said, it depends on several factors like whether the game uses a damage threshold system or a damage resistance system, whether the attacks can stagger or not, and whether or not attacks can be interrupted.

As an overall style, I like fast. Slow can be boring.

Fast and weak. You can get in more attacks and slow ones get interrupted. With fast ones you're almost always guaranteed a hit.
In fighting games, I usually play faster characters too. I can get high combos and stun-lock them.
Also that. Every time I go to use a slow attack I always get stunned or Crowd Controlled.

Speed . Always speed . If you get interrupted or miss it doesn't matter as much . Plus i feels like i'm getting shit done faster . In WoW i had my warrior dual wield daggers just for the lol's , it was pretty cool , people laughed , but i was still onthe top of my dps meter . Why the hell can't other classes put poison on daggers? Where the sense in that?
Maybe at lower levels but try do that at end game and you will surely be laughed out of town :p
I did get kicked out a few instances before they started , but i did manage to do level 1-80 with dual daggers ... Then it wasn't worth it anymore , but the. I didn't know how to play with proper warrior gear ... So i wuit my warrior .

I like Attack Speed in games like DotA and LoL but Damage in other games. LoL and DotA are attack speed because usually you have a special ability with it and damage in games like Ultima 7 because who the hell cares about attack speed in ultima?

Well, if it's all number-crunching, then I prefer slow and massive lump-sum deductions rather than lots of small-figure calculations. That and pow, battleship cannons. I want to see how high my raw attack power can go. Has to be elegant, though.

It actually depends for me. Is the damage pure (can it be blocked by armor)? Does the attack speed register me to have better dodge?

Although in all seriousness, it's all about the DPS which in my books is Damage/Attack Speed.

It depends on the mechanics.

Given equal DPS, it depends on things like interrupts, critical hit chance, procs, etc...

Enemies can usually knock you down while you're in the middle of attacking if you're slow, but usually if you attack really quickly and are good at dodging you're pretty much invincible.
Unless you attack slow but have really long reach. Then you can usually kill stuff before it reaches you anyway. My Halberd on Dark Souls is the best friend a fictional guy could ask for.

I like the massive attacks. It's oh so much more satisfying when you land a big hit. It takes precision to ensure it lands too and it tends to make you a bit more vulnerable.

Most games are poorly balanced between the two, making faster attack speed better. In well balanced games I usually prefer slow and powerful. In order to balance them, there's usually knockback/knockdown/stun chances associated with the slower attacks, and that better fits my playstyle.

Well, Let's look at who I main when playing League of Legends.

Oh.

Well, since it looks like there's no fast and powerful option, I'll just go with fast and weak.
tl;dr, I need to kill fast and bullets too slow.

For games where certain gear sets are better(WoW and MMOs in general), whatever is better for the class I play.

For other RPGs, I tend to base my equipment selection on what the character starts with. For example in FF5 I started Bartz out as a knight, Reina as a mage, Faris as a thief, and Galuf as a monk. And once one of the plot twists happens, I make that person into my healer, while basically leveling everyone else as the improved version of their starting "class"

If it has anything to do with choice, in games where "any build can be viable", I usually choose fast hitting melee with some ranged power. (for example: In Demon's Souls, I have a one handed sword, and magic. Stab, block/roll, magic, repeat)

Overall I prefer fast attacking, it looks a lot better than the slow, heavy blows (though those can look downright painful)

Funnily enough, when I payed WoW I mained a Death Knight, while I normally enough rogue type characters. I couldn't stand them in WoW.

Speed over power, assuming the DPS and utility even out, of course. I like to take a more active role in battle and react to the situation fast, rather than sit around waiting for my big attacks to charge. If stunlock and interruption are factors, the faster character would have a distinct advantage. Things like crits and procs are a big factor, as well; the Heavy's Eviction Notice in TF2, for example, swings faster than his normal fists, but does less damage, has a far greater chance to crit over a period of time due to how many more times he punches.

If there was the option to, though, I'd choose a mobile keep-away type character who can GTFO and keep opponents at bay. I like Toon Link in Brawl, Nu/Lambda in BlazBlue and Naoto in P4: Arena, as well as more agile mage-type characters in RPGs, such as Richard in Tales of Graces. I guess that would count as "speed" in some respect, but they're mostly medium to medium-fast in attack speed.
