Warmaster Horus. Because he set an entire Galaxy of men at one another's throats, crippled his father, killed his brothers and in essence caused the deaths of trillions. All for power.

Oh, and his armour was purest badass.

Darth Vader.

Revan is a Vader wannabe, Palpatine is an old corpse, Sauron gets his power from a ring, and Ganondorf just cant take a hint.

So evil, one name is just not enough.
The rules say no Satan.
one question? how can Revan be a Vader wannabe if Revan was alive several thousand years before Vader?
Vader was created before Revan.
no he was not. Revan was from KOTOR1 which takes place like 5000 years before the empire.
I give up.
good. that means i win. muahahahahahahaha!

Vader was created before Revan in real life and therefore Revan's character was inspired by Vader. And it's 4000 years, not 5000, but that's just nitpicking :p

Oh man, you get there first... I was going to say that... well I shall put this instead:
http://www.icanhasforce.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/star-wars-darth-revan.jpg

Haha, there is a better one but I couldnt find it... or couldnt be bothered finding it. XD
roflmao (i can't believe i just said that, i feel so dirty) anyway, that poster says the truth. Vader was a Pansie for going back over to the light.
Revan did as well in the canon ending of KotOR.
well yes in REAL time he was created first but in star wars term revan was first. oh and your right about the ending of KOTOR when he regets being a sith a shit. but he only says that if you say the right words to him.

Other: Ozzy Osbourne!

Sorry had to do it.
The Prince Of Darkness would bite Sauron's head off!

Fictional I'd go with Vader not Palpatine because he's just so much cooler.

I'm going to go with Big Brother from 1984 (only read it a few months ago and didn't realise it was popular) because he is truly immortal and he exists in a realistic world. All the others exist in worlds that contain forces that are beyond them. For example Sauron can never be more powerful than magic itself and the emperor isn't more powerful than the force. Big Brother is an idea and in the immortal words of V (V for Vendetta) "ideas are bullet-proof".

Fixed that for ya.
I lose one hundred geek points. :(
It's alright. In a way, I was wrong too. I mean, Samwise was the one who threw the Ring into the fire, so...

Sauron.

Why? Because he was the first. Not to mention the fact that in the Third Age he was basically the single most powerful individual in the entirety of Middle Earth.

Morgoth would get my vote for Best though, if he was on the list.

Gollum fell into the fire while holding the ring, actually.

How can Revan be a Darth Vader wannabe when he came first by 4000 years? :p

Plus, as awesome as Vader is, you have to remember that he was the chosen one of the light side of the force. Even though he brought the galaxy to it's knees along with Palpatine (who is, by the way, far from an old corpse, read my other post in here) at the end he fulfilled the prophecy and destroyed the last of the real Sith Lords. Ain't so dark lordish of him..

But still, Vader was a badass in his dark prime, there is no denying that :D
Why oh why did they ever let Hayden Christiannsen set foot on a Star Wars movie set...

The easist answer is quite often the best, he is an idiot.

That said, revan. He was the guy that put the mandalorians in their place and then went out and found a doomsday machine that would have ascended him to godhood if he didn't have a case of amensia and snooty snarking jedi come and buttfuck him while his apprentice was being a dick and blowing up the star forge he spent ages finding.
