Poll: DC comics or Marvel comics

please no comments on how stupid this is. just mark it in the poll. in my opinion, Marvel comics is better because the Thing is awsome. please explain why with your answer.

I was always the outcast among my friends, I didn't like superheroes, I didn't like Star Wars or that other mediocre spin-off of it *evil laugh*, and I never could get into anime.

I never really got the whole rivalry between DC and Marvel fans. It's even more meaningless than the whole console war thing.

I like both for different reasons. When it comes to the universe as a whole, I prefer the Marvel 616 to the DCU. Marvel just seems to have a much smoother and equally distributed power curve, which in my opinion makes the big picture more interesting. This is also why I prefer the big Marvel events to the big DC events. Marvel just has a better sense of scale.

However when it comes to individual series, I prefer DC (especially the DC imprints like Vertigo and Wildstorm). Almost all of my favourite American comics are DC: Planetary, Hellblazer, Transmetropolitan, etc.

Also, I'm slightly disappointed that in a poll about American comics, there's no mention of Dark Horse or Image Comics. I mean, come on: Invincible, Hellboy, Usagi Yojimbo? Anyone?

I don't... I don't know, man.

DC is great (it owns Vertigo, which has Sandman and Hellblazer), but the direction of some of the stories has gotten wonky. However, DC's done Marvel better than Marvel does Marvel in that DC has taken the more serious tone Stan Lee wanted to the next level. Meanwhile, Marvel has crap like that new chibi TV series and Marvel Ultimate.

Marvel is a lot more comicy (which is nice) and is super-huge on the retcon. DC is, too, but at least they aren't dicks about it. But Marvel also has Deadpool. Deadpool's great. But Marvel sells the hell out of Wolverine, the most powerful creature in the universe (Wolverine cannot, in fact, die).

But they're both terrible because LIIIIIIEEEFEEEEEEELD!
