I cant say but if we are to come to our inevitable doom on this date I can tell you were you can find me.....drunk in a strip club...or drunk in a lawn chair in my front yard waiting for all hell to break loose.

Is that some kind of common occurrence or is that special to for Doomsday?

If the world ends, life was fun and I did my best.
If it doesn't end, I continue on with my life and wonder if EA will carry out it's plan for world domination.

Either way, if the world does end I want it to end in one of two ways: Everything bursts into flames for no reason or reality ceasing to exist as a result of Blizzard and Valve finally merging together on the same day Yahtzee finally puts Branston Pickle onto No More Heroes.

not Blizzard and Valve, it will be when Infinity ward and Valve merge into Infinite Valve, and finally have the strength to take on Blizzgie (Blizzard-Bungie). and then Yahtzee will end it all with his Branston pickle/No More Heroes superweapon.

Say, isn't the mayan calender circular for a reason? Nibiru, maybe, but we'll see that for years before if that reason holds any truth. And even then, the Annunaki from Nibiru have been told to advance us in the evolutionary chain... so we'll all be obsolete, but get to see the next step. Well, its coming, in a short four years, the Mayan calendar reached its abrupt end, a calendar well known for accurately predicting eclipses hundreds of years in the future. So I ask you fellows at the Escapist forums, what do you think will happen?

The one good thing is that I am due to complete my project shortly after this date.

i love mexico and the mayan heritage, but like a lot of things i just see this as religious speculation(like the rapture). also there's a chance, after speaking with a mayan tour guide down there, that the mayans didn't even mean it would be the end of the world, just that a new age of man would learn and become wiser and peaceful.

Interesting. Maybe the human race will take a collective look at the last 10,000-ish years of history, shake itself, and work to improve itself.

Plus, eclipses have nothing to do with the end of the world.

No they don't, but it is rather disturbing to see that a calendar that can accurately predict them centuries before they happen abruptly ends on December 21, 2012.

Oh, and by the way, I'm one of those "maybe" people, but I just like to try and justify the other side of the argument.

Why is it disturbing that it ends? The Mayan culture was destroyed over a short period of time, a long time ago. It seems likely that their efforts to calculate astronomical events hundreds of year into the future would rather suddenly be put on hold as they fought for their survival.

And as meatloaf says, their accurate predictions of these events simply mean that they were very skilled astronomers for their time. But you can't predict the end of the world through astronomy alone.
