Poll: Deus ex Human Revolution, like or not?

I'm pretty meh about it. I guess that's what I get for basing expectations for a game on the hotness of the main character, which was really, really high in this case. So kind of screwed that one for myself. I've just been playing until it inevitably does something to piss me off, turning it off, and trying again the next day so far.

But I still can't actually dislike the game because of the aforementioned main character hotness. Seriously, Adam has no right to be that goddamn gorgeous. It's just criminal.

I was so worried this game would let me down, but it did not almost at all. The only disappointing thing in the game is the boss fights, but even with that I feel I might actually call this my favorite game ever, but that depends on the ending.

Based on the beta (picking up the real game later today, yay!!), use explosives. I went hacker/social, but I kept the 4 explosives charges (blue containers in the inventory)the game gives you at the start. If you hit him head on with all of those, you're just some bullets away from defeating him.

I've heard that you can chuckle explosive barrels at him that are spread in the area.

Also...wasn't there like...a rocketlauncher in the area just before the fight (in the area with the walking box mech...ground floor left side). At least...it was there in the leaked beta.

Just started a Deus Ex, non lethal playthough. So far I'm liking it - plenty of ways to go about your mission, and the game makes you stop, think and stratagize.

This is one of those games the next release should be just about perfect. Kinda like with ME1 and ME2, but then again some people didn't seem to like the second game all that much...=/

Near perfect in my book.

I love it so far. It's an excellent experience as well as a great game. I've had to play in chunks because of work, but it has me hooked. Certainly good enough for three more playthroughs before Gears, and that's saying something coming from me.

Im so glad I gave this game a chance, It was more fun to me than Mass Effect, and the sci-fi was cooler because it could happen. I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves.
Very fun.

As it stands, its GotY for me.
Skyrim is really the only game left that can stand a chance at topping this, and frankly - for amazing as it will be - its not going to have this deep philosophical question backing it.
The Witcher 2 was utterly fantastic, but Deus Ex: Human Revolution is just that 'something special' that one comes around every few years.
Feels good to be playing a _real_ game, after all these years of suffering the ADHD-inspired trash.

my main concern was the ole' loading times chestnut, but it's already been patched to dramatically improve them, so hey... super dooper!

(as it stands my only real complaint is that a pacifist run is again, sadly, impossible, given the inevitable death/fire fight against barrett and whatever else i'm not up to yet, (and forced combat was, from memory, the downfall of the pacifist run in alpha protocol). still, i suppose the original deus ex didn't really have a pacifist run either, given that you have to redirect that nuke, rather than just abort the countdown... so i'm not that bothered)

You can do a pacifist run. Technically you have to kill the bosses, but eh. They don't count towards the achievement for not killing anyone.

Well, I don't know if it would be considered survival horror, but it was pretty intense. Although how much it decided to drain my ammo before the final boss fight was plain evil.

My major gripe with the game is the boss fights, I had a healthy amount of a combat build put into Jensen for my playthrough but if I was a pure stealth hacker they would be close to impossible.

Honestly I just kept cloaking, going behind him, and hitting him with a combat rifle in the head, I don't know how it would work for others

I'm currently about 20 hours into the game, and I'm loving it so far! I'm not sure about GOTY, but it's definitely a cut above a whole lot of recent games. My favorite thing about it is that you can tell that Eidos focused on what made the original good, and improved it. Not much mainstreaming, besides the cover system, but you don't realy need to use it anyway except for stealth.

I was a pure hacker with little to no combat or stealth abilities. THE SECOND BOSS FIGHT WAS SO AWFUL OH GOD. The third and final boss fights were easy as hell, though. The Grenade Launcher is so overpowered...

Anyway, I don't think you were supposed to use your ammo on those enemies. I just spammed double takedowns while munching on energy bars every three seconds.

I just did this- EMP Grenade > Shoot him in the head with a revolver twice, throw three normal grenades, shoot him more, throw another EMP grenade, shoot until he dies.

When you hit him with an EMP grenade, he'll start tossing a ton of grenades in the direction that he's facing so run behind him after the first EMP blast.

I'll say it's great. I can't willingly give it GOTY status when I know games like Arkham City and Skyrim are also slated for this year as well. This is a good game to set the bar with though. First major title near the fall season and it's pretty damn awesome.

The game's great! It has that old Deus Ex feeling to it that was missing from the second game. Though it could be from that I'm still in my experimental first playthrough, but this game is kicking my ass. I even had to lower the difficulty at some points because I got tired of getting murdered within seconds of being discovered.

I have two small complaints though. First, why can't people stand or sit still in a conversation? The constant shaking is really annoying, it's like they have some kind of disease or disorder.

Second, why does the Dutchman have a Jamaican/African accent? With a distinctive Dutch name I was expecting a distinctive Dutch accent, but this guy doesn't even sound like he's from Europe.
