I'm excited because I want to see where they're taking the story. From what I understand, Diablo II removed any chance of the Three Dark Lords coming back to Sanctuary. And the trailers make is seem like there's something worse out there, so I'm excited. I've heard the theory that Heaven, and mainly Tyrell (is that how you spell it?) has been corrupted because of what happened with the World Stone, but who can say?

Also, they're rebuilding Tristram? Honestly? What townspeople in their right minds would want to go within fifty miles of that accursed place?

I'm about as excited for Diablo as I am about a reboot of FF7, not really. I mean Diablo was good fun, but I moved past it years ago. WHERE IS MY STARCRAFT 3?!

Hell yes I'm excited - it's freaking Diablo, a game series which has consistently managed to rock my socks. I have a feeling that their will be more rocking of the socks with this installment.

This is the first thing that popped into my head when I read the title of the thread. How depressing....

Yes, yes I am very excited for this. I guess them announcing it having the stupid region-lock that Starcraft 2 had would dampen my spirits a bit, but I'd get over it. Because it's still the goddam Diablo, and my body is ready.

I consider the hype for Diablo 3 to be like a fire that's been locked away in a room, starved of oxygen and information. So when Blizzard finally releases the game and opens the door, there will be a backdraft. Where other games are just sparks, Diablo 3 will be a fire ball.

Diablos 1 and 2 made up half of my childhood, so you could say I'm pretty excited about the third... I should really get around to fixing up my PC, though; really struggles with the new releases, y'know?

@Cheesus333 Firstly it doesn't look anything like WOW...at all.

Secondly I'm looking forward to it but I have reservations that the engine is going to be that impressive after all this time. They have been developing it for years. Surely at some point it's going to fall behind.

I think the art style is fitting for it to me it just looks like the old one updated to more realistic 3D I'm not entirely sure what your issue is with it? Did you expect it to look exactly like Diablo 2. Because as brilliant as it was it's kind of out of date now.

Last time i was excited by Blizzard product was around 2004 when WoW was launching. Since then they haven't really managed to keep me interested enough to make me squeal in anticipation. They aren't really known for innovation nor interesting new design conceptions - rather polishing an old formula till you can see your reflection in it. For me that is equal to boring. They don't really even have the storyline/plot edge to make it a selling point, so yeah, i'll probably get it at one point or another just to see how it looks, but not really on my priorities list.

I absoloutely loved diablo 2 it was and still is one of my favourite multiplayers, what made diablo 2 so awesome was the expansion, and the free online, ive not done much research on diablo 3 but if it doesn't live upto expectations hopefully an expansion for it will that and it best fucking involve mad cows or ima be pissed >:l

If not then there is always elder scrolls skyrim to look forward too xD

Nope, not anymore. I loved Diablo I and II but I'm way too tired of 'Blizzard Time'. It's been 11 YEARS since D2 was released, and isn't that nearly as much time as people have been waiting for Duke Nukem Forever? I'm not overly fussed about art style or anything, I'm sure it'll be nice whatever happens, I just want them to release the damn game.

C'mon Blizzard, you've had 11 years, how much more time do you want?

I'm unhappy with the poll options. I am completely happy with the graphic style, it's not a despite the graphics thing, I find the graphics just fine thanks.
I think the game will be fantastic, and its the game I'm most looking forward to.

And yes, I played Diablo 2 to excess.

You ninja bastard!

OT: I'm looking forward to D3 quite a lot.

I think the art direction is actually nice (regardless of horrendously biased poll with no options to want it without hating on it).

I don't remember when I first heard that Diablo 3 was coming out, but I do know it was a couple of years ago. I also remember that I was pretty much wetting myself with anticipation: Diablo 2 is my favourite game (though I attribute that to fond memories of playing it from age seven - that game may as well have bloody raised me) and I was and am glad it'll finally be getting a sequel. At the time, the graphics looked positively astounding: that same bleak, gothic style that the first games captured so well brought into the HD generation of gaming.

And since then, we've got... this.

Pretty enough, of course. But this isn't Diablo - it's Warcraft. I'm not looking at Sanctuary, but Azeroth in this picture. Moreover, the class trailers didn't do a lot to help (search the Monk or Demon Hunter trailers on Youtube) and it's all coming together into a game that I'm not even sure I want to play anymore.

So what about you, Escapists? Whether you're fans of the predecessors, or you don't even know what I'm on about, let me hear it: still looking forward to this addition to the series, or are you on the verge of giving up on it?
I'm sorry, but I have to do this

also, this is kinda an old article, but when Diablo 3 was first announced, a lot of people fanraged at the color pallete and created a bunch of dark, photoshoped versions of the D3 screens. Then in this article, the lead game designer for D3 basically kicks them all in the teeth and tells them to learn a thing or two about game design.
