Yes. I'll be the first to admit that they dumbed it down far too much (although that's to say that ME1 didn't need SOME dumbing down) and that missions are far less varied then those of the original. But...I don't know...the majority of your squad are so original and fully realized that interacting with them almost makes the game. Plus, the combat still works just fine, and it's still a blast to play through.

I'm hoping ME3 will fall somewhere between 1&2 on the complexity scale,(number of weapons/upgrades available, leveling up, etc.) with missions like those of ME1. I mean, if you think about the Feros mission, it was fucking HUGE. I miss that.

Oh yeah, and they should also relegate Paragon/Renegade points to an experience bar I can spend points on, so that I don't have to make consistently good/bad choices throughout the game for the best ending. That's not what morality means.

The started out both of their series with very complicated systems, and Mass Effect 2 was the first to get dumbed down. For a shooter, this actually worked very well, and I respect their decision over it. But they got either cocky or overly excited about it, and changed a RPG into an action game, which pissed the hell out of EVERYONE.

Of course I did.
I've also enjoyed Dragon Age II immensely more than Origins.
Just a preference of taste, is it all.

Turning point. I went in Afterlife and got a drink. A couple of hours later, my files got corrupted and I had to start over. When I got into the Afterlife for a second time and ordered a drink from who I thought was the same bartender, I passed out and found myself in a sidequest.

That's game power right there. It combined the best parts of RPGs and shooters. Others might complain that RPG elements got tossed out the window. I won't. Maybe cause I played this and Fallout 3 at the same time. I do not get why people get so pissed with the game. If I wanted an RPG through and through, I would buy Neverwinter Nights.

Also, biotic charge. ZBAAAAAAF!

Just because you like something doesn't mean you can't find faults in it. For instance, Mass Effect needs some better hair rendering. I'm tired of Shepherd going out in public looking like she hasn't washed her hair in a week.

Oh, and telling Garris "secks nao plolz" isn't romance. It just isn't.

Nope - didn't play it. I've tried playing the first and it is way too boring to even try to play, so I'm really not going to bother trying the second.

Over all yes. It's getting a lot of comparison to Dragon Age II because it took the franchise in the same direction. The difference is that the things that were cut away from Mass Effect to streamline (now there's the word of the month again -.-) it was dead weight, so it resulted in a better game. In Dragon Age on the other hand, the same stuff was basically cut from the game but unlike Mass Effect it was never really a problem, on the contrary, Dragon Age: Origins was already on the verge of being too simplified, so while the approach was the same the result became different.

But back to the original post. Yes I still digg ME2, almost everything they did with that game was a 100% improvement over the predecessor which was already a great game. I've always thought the story was a polished train wreck, but the game was so good I still really liked it.

One of my favorite games, easily. The DLC is pretty good to if you don't get screwed over by the game breaking bug they haven't fixed yet that came with the Lair of the Shadow Broker(LotSB) DLC.

It was alright, they have shown me that I'll haveto start renting Bioware games rather then buying, but hey going casual they appeal to about 90% of gamers so why not cash in on that.

At first I was convinced they will have Mass Effect as the money catcher, so they can then spend time on bigger things like DA, but it seems they drank a bit toomuch of EA koolade and now they aim everything at a casual yearly stamp out.

It got rid of that stupid inventory system and using the Paragon/Renegade actions could make dialogue go from boring to "Did I just do that? SWEET!"

I liked it. I doubt if your going to much opinion the other way. For all the whining ME2 is generally held as a good game and enjoyed by many people.

I love it, but stopped playing it for a bit longer than I would have liked.
I play it en-mass (No pun intended) when I do, but otherwise its a bit hard to get into the mindset to fully enjoy it.
Im just waiting to get my Console fixed so I can play it :/

No, it was one of the few games I quit out of sheer boredom.

The combat was completely unimpressive. A lot of shooters nowadays are linear battles in hallways with chest-high walls, but those at least try to make it interesting with lots of explosions or face-paced combat or backgrounds.

The exploration was horrid. The entire game consisted of corridors. Even in areas out in the open. There were always conveniently placed cliffs. I don't know how this game got away with it but FF13 gets blasted for it. Both suffered from a lot of the same faults, really.

The world bored me. It was detailed and original, but it had no spark of passion to it. So much of it relied upon telling me, not showing. It was the difference between reading about elephants and seeing elephants for yourself. There was no experience. One of the times where the game really did do it right that I can remember was the Newton conversation you hear between some marines. A lot of the rest of the stuff was just read the codex or sit through conversations as you go down a check list of questions like you're giving them an interview for a job. Also, I find putting stereotypical everything but in SPACE is quaint. Aria was probably the best though. SPACE gangster running a SPACE club where you drink ambiguously alcoholic SPACE beverages. I was surprised when she used a real word for swearing instead of some silly SPACE word.

Planet scanning, a real loss in customization of your weapons and armor, and waifus. Lol, no thanks.

I very much enjoyed the game, but there are some tendencies that I didn't like which seem to have carried over to Dragon Age 2. Take the dialog system for example. It's simplified to the point where it just straight up tells you: "This option makes you bad, that one makes you good, that one over there makes you a smug prick". Having a system with absolutely clear cut moral choices is something I disagree with in general, but the simplified dialog wheel makes it even worse.

When I play an RPG I like to think about how different choices reflect on my character. That's (one of) the point(s) of an RPG I think. As people have already noted Mass Effect 2 isn't really much of an RPG to begin with though. Oh well...
