Don't care about the mutiplayer in pretty much any game. If I want to be annoyed by dickheads while I'm trying to have fun, I'd go outside.

I personally hate it when people buy a game solely for the multiplayer. The Dev team worked hard on this game, the least you can do is play it.

I basically only play the single player in CoD games, also I've never actually bought one. I've played 2 through Black Ops in case you were wondering.

Only played the single player. It was an ok way to spend my free time , nothing more, nothing less.

Play through the campaign on normal then drop in and do some multiplayer, after a while do the veteran playthrough on the campaign and get the intels and whatnot. I usually get bored of multiplayer by about level 40-50 anyway.

In Modern Warfare 1&2, I played the campaigns all the way through. I liked the first, and I loved the story in the second, but it was too short.

But Black Ops... Disappointment. As OP said, everything up until the great escape is... Not even okay (though I did like the escape scene), and shortly thereafter I stopped playing. Overall I was disappointed, but really, what did I expect?

Still can't help but feel that the devs should be punished for this, the singleplayer was SO below standard.

"It's a multiplayer game dude!" - Then remove the singleplayer alltogether and don't make the game pretend to be anything else than a multiplayer cashcow. Honestly, by this point, the only reason that CoD has singleplayer is to excuse the setting and the weapons used in it, which is not even good in Black Ops.

I always play through the single player campaign before jumping on multiplayer. It feels weird if I don't.

I never play the multi before the single, on any game. I kinda feel like I'm cheating the storytellers who have created that whole narrative if I skip past it to get cheap thrills in the multiplayer.

To me the multiplayer in games is the extra sprinkles on the game-cake, it adds to the experience but it isn't a driving force of the experence, thats the single player. (with obvious TF2-esque exceptions)

I do, it's action packed and gives you that cheesy action movie hero feeling. It's nothing worth worshipping, but I like playing it and constantly replay it.

I couldn't give a flying fuck about the multiplayer, I want to know what happens with Price and his GLORIOUS MOUSTACHE! Oh and Soap too I guess.

Why do you think Price has lived since The WW's

I only play for the story, which to me is the most important. I think in my whole life I have only played 6 games of COD online across all of the games.

I only buy CoD games for the single player experiences they have. Mulitplayer is only a afterthought until I get all the single player achievements.

I played and liked all the CoD singleplayer except Black Ops, fuck when you're going around firing a long range shotgun with Dragon's Breath and you're bored out of your mind. You know that several people along the line fucked up.

It's like they decided to go for 50% more explosions and threw all semblance of pacing off several cliffs and into a sea with an oil coating which was then set alight by several carpet bombings.
You've nailed it, buddy. That's exactly how I felt, the game was completely soul-less and boring, it doesn't matter how things have changed on the surface it still PLAYS the same as COD4.

Black Ops gets off the a good start, assassinating not-Castro, sent to a Soviet gulag, meeting Resnov and executing a daring escape... then the game just falls flat.

It stinks of a game with a few good ideas forced to rush and pad itself out.

Frankly, if the COD games want to keep up the annual release (with alternating devs) they need to be MUCH less ambitious with the campaign if even bothering with one at all. Because the single player was just unpleasant to play through hoping it would get better.

I don't play COD, but I've skipped the campaign in Bad Company 2, because from what I'd played before it was horrible. A linear scripted corridor shooter, totally on rails. The multiplayer is the best I've ever experienced, but I really wasn't impressed by the single player from what I'd played of it.

Nah, I played the campaigns.

Although in retrospect I wish I hadn't. Utter tripe.
