..I just decided to pretend the movie doesn't exist, and that's ok, really.. I can't believe I didn't try that with Lord of The Rings, too..

The movie was good, the graphic novel was better - who would've thought.
One thing I thought was better in the movie was Ozymandias' plan... seemed more logical to me than the scheme in the novel.
One more thing that impressed me was the fact that the whole cast was a pretty much unknown crowd, and they all did a damn good job!
Oh, and looking at a lot of the comments I've read up to this point - what's up with people hating on the soundtrack? I though it was great, especially the song played during the beginning of the movie.

On the Dark Knight issue - the joker was excellently portrayed. The beloved rendition of the Joker in 'Batman (TAS)' was hilarious, but that was always meant to be the more kid-friendly version. Anyone who's read both 'Killing Joke' and 'Arkham Asylum' knows the joker the way he was intended to come across originally, and Ledger did a fine job capturing that insanity.

I loved the film, but disliked the ending. It felt like a bit of a letdown after a three hour build-up but I still really liked it. I never got around to read the comic but from what i have read it seems really similar, but still i have heard fans ripping on the film even though it was similar and had pretty good acting, scripting and direction.

Im not sure if my english was right there, When i was ralking about perceptions I was refering to Watchmen.

I'm not sure wha you mean though. "missed the point of the Joker". Personally I thought the Nail was hit firmly on the head. I mean Heath Ledgers Joker was alot like The joker from "The Killing Joke".
simply put where was the joke? the joker is all about pulling a joke, not just randomly killing people. so he totally missed it and even from The Killing Joke, he missed it

and from what you're saying you also don't under the Joker and who and what he is and what he represents

One of my top 5 films. This is soo much better than the Batman films - resolutely dark and harrowing! Fantastic. Haven't read the graphic novel but it must be good if it led to a film like this! It's great to have a story where
everything is not alright in the end!
Plus I saw it in a matineé with a cinema full of 80 year old women - surreal! Maybe they appreciated the original when it appeared or were in the wrong film but none of them left and it really made me squirm during the sex scene and really violent moments! 10/10

I loved them both, book and movie. Thats mainly because the movie is almost as if someone has taken the book and scanned each image and turned it into a GIF. But thats what makes it so good i think, the book was so epic it didn't warrent any deviation from it, the movie just stuck, neer enough, line to line.

Really want to see and read it. Like a fool I turned down a friend's offer to borrow Watchmen a few years ago. Now I sorely regret that, especially after seeing the price in most UK bookstores... :(. I Definitely want to see it and read it soon...
Don't know if it's expensive as I'm from Denmark, but the TPB only costs 9 £ on play.com [http://www.play.com/Books/Books/4-/464025/Watchmen/Product.html?cur=257]. I think it's pretty cheap but it may be that it's just cheap compared to Denmark.

I've read the book, seen the movie, and my opinion is fairly obvious from my avatar.

I like most Alan Moore books in general but I liked this book in particular due to it's morals and political opinions featured in the book.

Also I like it when Rorscach's identity is revealed and you just don't expect it to happen, as well as not expecting who it turns out to be, yet alone expecting it to be someone who has appeared at several points beforehand.

I spoilered that for anyone who hasn't read it. But anyway, Alan Moore also uses a lot of symbolism and irony in the book, and just those subtle bits of language that make up the book that I love.

I also like his actual technique for writing, as he will usually start on one thing and then go onto something completely different, and only link them together later on. I love this technique as it adds a layer of confusion as well as what seem to be side stories before seeing them link together.

The movies ending was great...I don't know why everyone bags on it. It was able to convey the same message the comic was, even if it was different.

I think you missed the point of Heath Ledgers Joker. The joke was sanity. He found Sanity hilarious and that was the joke. Prehaps not as flambouyant as previous incarnations of the joker. But every joker has their own joke. Killing Joke/ Heath Ledgers Joker = Sanity. Jack Nicholsons = Beauty. The Very first joker = Order.

So just because something puts forward an Idea that isnt your own dosnt automatically mean its wrong.

Let me explain something I knew NOTHING about Watchmen when I saw the movie. Not a damn thing, but I found it so clever unique and interesting. Like a real intriguing work and a candidate for film of the year '09. Maybe this is because I hadn't read the comic so I would judge the movie as a movie nothing more. Look the movie sold me on Watchmen as a franchise because later on I went and bought the comic. Honestly I just think it's a good movie and a GREAT comic.

The movie was very good, I've not read the book but my colleagues tell me the movie stays fairly true to the source material.

I avoided reading the book until after I saw the movie. I tend not to enjoy a movie if I've read the book, so I wanted to be able to enjoy both. Doesn't always happen that way, but the opportunity was there.

The movie was a lot of fun, hell, I saw it twice. I'm almost done with the book, so my comment could change upon conclusion thereof.

The book is thus far just good. Maybe in terms of graphic novels it's fantastic, but I've read better written stories. The storyline itself is great, but the writing leaves something to be desired. Perhaps it's the format. I don't know; I don't really read graphic novels. But if that was groundbreaking genre-wise, that's saying something about the genre, and it's not good.
