Poll: Do games need beefier women?

This is a loaded question IMO. Do they NEED beefier women? No. Would it be nice to see more body types for both genders? Sure.

Between development cost and artistic freedom there is absolutely no ground for saying a game needs anything other than what the sales figures demand.

There are beefy women in real life and I think that female character designs always being slender and barely straying away from "ideal" is just... really creepy.

So yeah, why not? We need more variety in female body types in game art anyway. Oh right, and the whole "everybody is someone's fetish" thing.

Yes, No, and Maybe...

Yes just to keep the variety of body types open to customization and shit like that...
No and Maybe have similar reasons that boil down to both the "It shouldn't be forced, but rather have it come naturally from the game creators themselves" reason and the "Encouragement is okay, but don't make it the only thing encouraged" reason...

So, in other words, it up to the game creators to do something like that of their own free will... There's an irony in here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it right now...

Why, yes. I have Lack-of-Buff-Womanitis, and will, in fact, spontaneously combust without more beefy women. It's a seriously illness. :(

But seriously, yes please. It's a must in works that want me to take it seriously, in my book. And while we're at it, some more lanky dudes wouldn't go amiss. To piggyback off of the OP in using Skyrim as an example; it weirded me out that the guys in the College of Winterhold still had limbs the size of tree trunks.

And in works that aren't to be taken seriously? Eh. I'd still hardly object to more beefy womens there, too. :p

Beefy women... I support this. But then again I've got a ragin fetish for amazons so doing s would be shameless pandering to the lusts of my particular male demographic and thusly sexists and demeaning to women.
Hey, you get your jollies off, we get more variety in female body types, it's a win-win!
Except for women. I mean Ms. A would likely throw a tirade over the sexual objectification of big muscular women, reducing them to sexualized pinups.

Joke would be on them though. There is not female body type men have not already fetishized. There is nothing you could clothe or not clothe a woman in that we have not fetishized. You cannot defeat the power of Boners!
First off, it took me like twenty minutes before I realized who you meant by "Ms. A," but I don't really care what hypothetical tirades she might throw in the future.

Second, I'm a male feminist so I can speak for all women when I say no one cares about your boner

The problem is when only one type of body, that is nearly impossible for the average person to achieve, is portrayed, thus causing people stress when they can't live up to that ideal. More variety helps this issue

To be fair.. how many male characters have body-types that the average person can achieve?

To be super fair, I think that is also a problem, but in my experience there is a greater variety of male body types around as opposed to female body types

Dragon's Dogma's got you covered.

You could play anything, from a scrawny little boy to a goddamn she-hulk. And it even impacted the gameplay; If you were smaller you were weaker, but also less likely to get hit. If you were bigger... well, I'm sure you get the idea. Best character creator I've ever seen.

Thanks Capcom, for flushing this franchise down the toilet, by the way.

Well there just needs to be variety in general(tall, short, skinny, fat, ugly, not so ugly, scars, missing limbs, severe deformations, diseases,...), then places look like shit is actually going on and you aren't observing a copy paste wax museum where nothing of importance ever has or will happen.

When some dude with a peg leg missing an arm tells you about some giant fucking bear then you pay attention, when generic NPC #836 tells you about a bear you forget him before he finishes the story.

Not needed but it would be nice.

Only when it's necessary though. I don't expect muscle on quiet, shy, hospitable women but only on ones actually doing physical activities.

Only where it makes sense. In the Mass Effect 2 DLC "The Lair of the Shadow Broker", I found hilarious how femshep combats toe-to-toe with the shadow broker.

Although her armor and cybernetic implants could explain it.

I'd welcome it.

I'd welcome a wider range of body customization options across the board in RPGs, too.

Don't know about him, but I use the sports sexy map for cbbe or unp. You might need texblend, (I don't remember, been ages since I installed those mods.) but that is a easy to use tool.

Do you mind if I ask for the name of the mod that does that? I prefer my female warrior characters to actually look strong but didn't realize there was a mod for it. Your barbarian looks awesome :D
I used UNP, UNP Texture Blender and possibly something else, but I honestly don't remember. My mod manager is a mess right now after I built my new PC a few months back. My mod order is intact because I copied my entire Skyrim folder, but Mod Manager is totally clueless what's going on XD

Any human going toe to toe with a Yag looks ridiculous.

Need? Video games don't need to be anything but functional, but sure why not? Actual useful muscle is exaggerated already. Besides it makes for great comic relief.

Dialog trumps physical appearance any day of the week.

While I am loath to bandy about assertions on what we need, it couldn't hurt to have some variety.

Speaking of character creators, I'm gonna seize on the opportunity of extolling the amazing character creator in Dragon's Dogma.
A phenomenal standard by which all others should be judged. I would love to see it just blatantly plagiarized by everyone.

White Knight chronicles had a similar robust character creator.

Are there really that many archetypes. There's Built like a line back that ate other linebackers. There's Bishie, And there's comically fat, bean pole and impossibly athletic.

Women have Boxuom, impossibly athletic, loli, tomboy and barbie doll. Kinda evens out in my books. I've never judged characters by genders ... soley by how much ass they kick. Though in honesty this is why I respect EVerquest. Only MMORPGG I've seen where you can make a truely butt-ugly female.

I think this is exaggerated a bit, a lot of video game body types aren't as impossible to attain as people seem to think. The only body types that are impossible to obtain are the really heavily stylized ones, and even then they're just exaggerations of existing body times.

Well, the examples you gave show a lot more variety in the male end than the female end...
But I do agree videogames are a lot better than movies and TV in that regard.

Plus they have an actual excuse in that they have to create each individual body type, so more variety takes more time.

But it's 2015, I think it is damn time for some more muscled women in video games
