Yes. Even in texts, I spell everything correctly and make it as grammatically perfect as I can. I'd hate to look like some Neanderthal moron who can't grasp the fact that 'you' has 3 letters.
Well said, and I agree completely.

Same here. I text and type fast enough that it doesn't make much of a difference, and I'd rather my message arrive three seconds slower than have it make me look like an idiot. I think the only netspeak I use is ttyl, and then only when I have to leave suddenly.

Always. English isn't my first language, and i find that posting to English speaking forums has really helped me improve.

I do it the best as I can, and go back to fix mistakes should I see them.

Yup.

Text messages and even messages on consoles.

Used to be a time when I didn't.

Those were dark, dark days.
Same here man, same here...

I'll make the odd mistake during instant messaging and the like, and even let out an ironic acronym so long as it's in quotes, but on forums and other such like I will do my best to avoid misspellings and other dastardly creations of the Information Age.

EDIT: I also let egregious errors get to me on a personal level. If you can't be bothered to type out your thoughts to the best of your linguistic ability, then you don't care about what you've written or who's reading it.

The only time I might not do it is in game, and I need to relay information quickly. Even at that, I'll only omit capitalisation; I'll still use proper punctuation and grammar.

I always try and type correctly. Sometimes there will be a slip up here and there, but when I talk to people who don't even try to make any sense in their messages, it gets really annoying. You shouldn't have people trying to decipher the message that you're trying to send. And when people abbreviate four letter words... it's just lazy.

And then it gets even worse when people go out of their way to purposely misspell a word...

Yes, and I even keep my grammar and spelling in check in text messages. It is very irritating to see my friends type like absolute retards whilst on the internet or in text messages.

Spelling well just makes me feel better about myself, and allows me to sound intelligent on the internet, unlike about 80% of the population.

My sister was always quick to point out my punctuation errors when I was a kid.
As a result, even though she is not around anymore (she moved out with her now husband) I still regularly check my spelling because I'm afraid she can tell telepathically and that therefore I can receive scorn from a long distance.

The internet is no exception to this rule.

Yes. I always bother with punctuation, be it the forums, instant chat or letters.

I hate people who don't. :|

Vary it according to the person I'm speaking to. Text messages are always punctuated tho (Predictive text practically does it for me on my phone...). If it's a short IM (One sentence) then I'll probably not bother with capitals or punctuation, usually.
