Yeah. I mean, obviously I still use those irritating terms that a lot of people seem to dislike like, "IKR" or...well, "lol" but I'm always trying to keep my capitals and punctuation in check regardless.

Also I can't stand those annoying texts when it doesn't even sound remotely like english:
"omg gurlz I tuts wana B gud ngo 2 da muvyyyy!! xoxox" etc etc...I use dictionary, thank you.
Is that off topic?...Yeah, whatever, seemed appropriate.

punctuation? yes, normally. I don't capitalize many things though, except sometimes names and usually the word "I".

sometimes I will make sure to use perfect punctuation / grammar, usually just depends on where I am writing.

I always attempt you write correctly whilst minimizing the amount of slang that I include. That goes for; forums, letters, emails, messages and texts.

not really. I try to put commas and check my spelling but as long as it makes sense to me its all that matter. But I try to do my best on the escapist, (we have a small problem of grammer nazis)

I spent 18 years learning English, and at no point do I intend on desecrating it in any form or fashion.
This, this, a thousand times this.

i am very irritated with the illegibility of some people (see Youtube comments)and their surprising inability to write coherent sentences; so I ask you, do you bother writing properly on the internet?
Oh, and yes, I did read the forum guidelines on this sort of thing..
You realise that ".." means nothing? It's either a full stop "." or an ellipsis "...".
I hereby declare that from now on '..' means 'Fred'.

That's exactly my point. You can never understand what the hell they are on about. It gets so bad they forget what the hell English even means.

just to be clear, you are referring to spelling and grammar really, because neither your title or post is correct when it comes to punctuation.

I'm all for correct spelling (which I struggle with) and gramma. but I don't really care too much for punctuation. I know one guy who uses capital letters and fullstops correctly EVERYWHERE, even in IM, I CBF with that.

i do full stops and thats about it since its not as if im sending it in for examination to the grammer nazi department for inspection. i also sometimes leave "teh" (the) and depending on my mood i might go and correct it but since most people understand what i mean i leave it sometimes.

Yup.

Text messages and even messages on consoles.

Used to be a time when I didn't.

Those were dark, dark days.
This is exactly what I was going to say, word for word. Incorrect spelling is one of my pet hates, which is bad because I'm terrible at grammar, especially seeing has it's my native language. I blame my absolutely deplorable teachers who taught me in school.

Well, I do my best to make my posts as coherent and readable as possible although I'm afraid my best isn't very good given the standards here.

Well, my friends call me a grammar nazi for a reason. I actually complain if they use "modern" shorts for words, especially if the word is short already. Things like writing "u" instead of "you" usually gets commented by me, and because my friends (and I as well) have a tendency to start long, meaningless arguments over stuff (mostly this one friend... and he's the one that does stuff like writing "u" =.=") that never ends because neither side is willing to give up. Usually, or rather (almost) always, I'm the one who's right. That's the advantage of always checking the facts behind everything you say.

Now that I think of it, I remember when I used to go in the same class as the aforementioned friend, and I were the "dictionary" in our little group of friends. Me, he and another one. I was the only one I'd consider capable of writing an essay without spelling about one word each sentence wrong. Damn it was annoying to work with them in a group... It ended with me rewriting everything they wrote so that it would be more correct.

Also...

I kinda get what the meaning behind it is, although I have some minor problems reading it. Still, I've seen worse.

A little disappointed by how many people say they don't bother with propper punctuation and/or grammar.

This is the escapist. It's where the grammar nazi department go when they aren't at work! No one is safe here from the grammar nazi's. It's why there are so many wars over how the American spellings.

Too many people bastardize the English language as it is, so I'd rather not join in.

On forums and such, yes I do punctuate and take care that all of my grammar is correct (not hard, I'm an AP high school student).
However, in live chats (like WoW) I don't bother since I'm generally going for speed there and the message will be bumped out of sight in less than a minute.
