When texting, I find that proper use of spelling and grammar is ironically the best way to stand out and be the independent rebel. Most people know it is me because I use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. One time, someone sent a dirty text to a friend of mine over the phone and my friend knew it wasn't me because of the text speak. Of course, I just blend in on the Escapist forums.

I answered yes to the question "do you use punctuation" that was being polled.
I find however that the watchword in this situation is functionality. If punctuation is necessary or will alter the meaning of what I try to say then in an ingame situation or in a text message I will include it. If it isn't important to what I'm trying to convey then I don't. Grammar Nazism ftl...

I get enough crap from people who don't grasp that I can speak in terms other than absolutes. I don't need further trouble by making my spelling a stumbling block for the internet.

Yes, because to me, sentence structure and proper grammar portray the maturity level of the person who is typing. I would see someone who randomly smashes buttons and assumes that the reader of said comments would be able to understand it is less mature than someone whom actually takes a few extra seconds to revise what they wrote before pressing the "send" or "post" buttons. Especially since you don't know whom is reading your comments. Future employers might read the comments their fellow employees or future employees may write, and I can guess that they would much rather read something composed and intelligent than something a six year old would cop out in a few seconds.

Yeah, I try to use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar every time I write.

Besides my mother teaches English, so I kind of have to.

Yes! In fact, I quite enjoy the liberal use of punctuation in all of its forms! In any public forum, at that.

It's actually kind of hard to overuse it to be a jack ass in this situation... Huh.

Yes, I do, I don't think that it is acceptable to lower your standards. I punctuate other things properly, so it would be remiss of me not to show the internet the same respect.

I was once kicked out of a online game of Warcraft 3 for refusing to not use proper capitalization and punctuation. My grammar was actually pissing them off.

I do on the Escapist, so i look intelligent. (I'm really not)

On Youtube etc. i do it to win arguments and make points.

"OMG HALO FTW COD BLAK OPS SUKZ THUMBS UP IF U AGR33" doesn't tend to win people over.

Yes. Even in texts, I spell everything correctly and make it as grammatically perfect as I can. I'd hate to look like some Neanderthal moron who can't grasp the fact that 'you' has 3 letters.
Agreed. Though I'll often end sentences with prepositions ('what are you looking for?' as opposed to 'for what are you looking?') just for readability for those who are used to such simple grammatical errors, it's very rare for me to actually send a message or publish a forum post which contains spelling errors (perhaps the occasional typo), or improper grammar.

Unfortunately, sometimes use of brackets can make my sentences extremely long. People will just have to bear with me.
