Haha, okay, so you quote me on something and then tell me not to argue back, that's a really lame way to drop an argument. If you didn't want to argue about it, then don't quote me bringing it upOwyn_Merrilin said:Wrong thread, buddy. Either one...Snotnarok said:Did you stop and think you're not getting support for your argument because you're wrong?
OT: Yes because gaming is an expensive hobby, and I enjoy collecting games.
It's really simple, if someone doesn't pay, they don't get to use that content, it's not about deserving anything. If they sell things that way and you don't like that idea, well...don't buy it, it's that easy. No one is forcing anything so the need to complain is hard for me to grasp.
For instance, I don't buy games with DRM on them, it's not a hard concept here.
Edit: Also, to everybody who says they buy used, head over to the "Et tu EA" thread, which is the one the OP was talking about. Predictably for the escapist, it's full of people spouting industry PR spin.
Actually, I was offering to take it up in the other thread. Thread derailment is frowned upon around here, and that argument, while the stated reason the OP was asking this question, is outside the topic he provided. I think he was just looking to see if the site was as full of people who were completely against used games as that thread made it seem.Snotnarok said:Haha, okay, so you quote me on something and then tell me not to argue back, that's a really lame way to drop an argument. There's no rule against it, and OP brought up this topic, and then you quoted me about it. But I'm all for dropping it if that's what you're gonna do.
You are aware that simply buying a new copy doesn't mean the game is actually new or at full price right.dathwampeer said:Yep.
I'm not paying £40+ for every title that comes out.
If you buy pre-owned solely becuase it's cheaper why don't you simply wait for the price of the non-owned copies to decrease in price, I've caught un-owned copies of AAA game at best buy for under 20 dollars hell I got UT3 for ten bucks at best buy.dathwampeer said:That has no relevance to my post.Normandyfoxtrot said:You are aware that simply buying a new copy doesn't mean the game is actually new or at full price right.dathwampeer said:Yep.

I buy pre-owned because it's cheaper. Whether or not new copies are actually new or full price is irrelevant.
I buy some games pre-owned because it's the cheapest option.
And hey waiting the few months means you aren't part of the beta testing crew. You usually get a nicely patched game by then.Sassafrass said:Yep, most of my game collection is second hand. I don't tend to get many new releases on launch day, mainly because I know that 2 or 3 months down the line, I can pick it up for about £25. Sure, this means I'm outta the loop when it comes to discussing them, plus I'm a little slow to the party if I decide to review them but hey, I'm all about saving money. The only games I've gotten new lately was Reach and New Vegas. Even Blops was a second hand buy at £35.
Depends on how old it is and what the developer uses for DRM. I buy used PC games all the time from record and thrift shops. Case in point, I picked up a complete copy of Battlefield 2 for $5 a couple of weeks ago. For the most part, unless it uses Steam or Games for Windows Live, used copies still work -- the only real trouble is finding someplace that sells them.Faladorian said:Hello, PC gamer here.
No way to buy used PC games so no.. couldn't even if I wanted to.
No you don't. My mate plays my copy of Reach online, no problems.Blindswordmaster said:Now, would you buy Reach knowing that you'd have to pay an extra 10 dollars to play multiplayer?
