Oh don't get me wrong, I only know of two mom and pop gamestores near where I live, one of which no longer sells PC games at all, and the other of which I've never actually been inside, just heard good things about from friends. I buy almost all of my used PC games at local record stores, with the occasional game that turns up in a thrift shop. Next time you see a local store that sells CDs, go inside and see what they have -- you might be surprised. There's one near my apartment that sells books, records, CDs, DVDs, Bluray Discs, and videogames of various sorts. They don't have the greatest selection of videogames, and you have to be careful what you buy -- the last time I was in there they had a copy of Counterstrike Source -- but you'll occasionally find a gem. I wouldn't go there looking for anything specific, but what they have is almost always within the impulse buy range.Faladorian said:

Since I realised that buying used games is the same as game piracy, I've been buying pretty much exclusively used games (except on the PC of course).
Also I'm in no rush to play games as they come out (usually) so I just get them when I think I'll have time to play them (got MGS4 recently for £12 for example).

I only buy used if I can save a decent amount. Since you only save $5 or so at game stores, I find it's smarter to just buy a copy I know is in good condition then sell it myself online or something when I'm done with it. When I do buy used, it's normally online from other people, where I save a decent amount of money (normally $10-15 or more). I think buying and selling from other people, who are more likely to use the extra money to buy more games, is fine myself.
Yeah, infact a bought a couple of used games the other day. I don't often buy new games unless there games I'm really wanting to buy and they've just been released. I don't get all that much money so I can't always afford to buy games brand new. Though I imagine I'm going to get guilt tripped or blame for something because I don't always pay for the new game. However, I gave up... I've seen both sides of the arguments and, I've agreed with some and disagreed with some... However, I'd just like to play my games in peace and let those more interested argue it out.

If Steam would sell me used games I would totally buy them. Where do you go to buy these used games you speak of? eBay?

I buy used games all the time. However, I'm very careful with which games I buy used, since I understand that the publishers and developers of that game won't see any profit from a used copy. I tend to save up to buy new copies of series I really like or new franchises that I think deserve a chance at a sequel. I'll buy used copies of games that haven't gotten great reviews or games that I just plain missed and don't mind waiting for.
As I said in the other thread, I typically save anywhere from $5 to $10 on a used game, and I think that losing multiplayer functionality is a decent trade for that discount. I guess it just seems reasonable to me that a used product would come with decreased functionality for a decreased price.
If you have that much of a problem over the ten dollar multiplayer fee for used games, then save up to buy a new game or shop around for a cheaper price on a new copy.

Pretty much all my Xbox360 games were bought second hand and some of my PS3 ones are aswell, but these days I order games from England since it's so frickin' cheap there!

Almost bought left 4 Dead about a year and a half ago for $60. Last month I bought it used for 10 bucks. What product is worth buying when it drops down to about 17% of it's original price in just 18 months, still working just as good as it did new? I do buy some games at full price new, but I can justify it by buying cheap and used more often than not.
Yeah. I live in Australia, and I'm sure you've heard the outrageous prices we have to pay for games, ($110 on release day) so I couldn't care less if the companies lose money, screw them.
Most of my games are used, except for the games I have on the 360 and PC. I don't have the money to buy games new. That would entail spending from 60 to 100+ dollars a game.
I buy a lot of new games... But there are always games that slip through that I either missed or didn't realize went Out of Print. You didn't specify if you meant only games that are still available new or not so I voted yes.
I'm not trying to sound like some high and mighty douche, but I buy them new because I can afford it, and I want to support the developer.
I'll buy old PS2 games, but that's about it, I tend to find them in charity stores and the like more than in GAME however, most big stores have quit anything pre-360.
For PC, there's too many great online DD stores to bother picking up a disc based copy.
