Australia, we call it Soft Drink. I don't think I've ever heard anyone call it "Soda" or "Pop" unless they were American.

I just refer to it as "carbonated sugar water". Not as a pejorative, I just enjoy using overly complex names for common things. My humor is normally only funny to me. :p

"Soft drink" is what I use. Using either word makes my blood boil. I just don't like the words.

It's Soda, goddammit! Haha, this is one of those stupid little things that irritates the hell out of me. Like when people say "q-pon" instead of "coopon" when saying "coupon." Another favorite is when people call "mini-golf" > "putt-putt." Drives me bonkers. I know it's stupid to let it bother me but it's those stupid little things that push my buttons!

But I digress, for me its soda, or whatever the brand name happens to be.

Although people will sometimes use 'fizzy drink' when they're talking to young kids (under 5 or so). Mostly old people I've heard say it, admittedly, and they can say some pretty weird shit at times.

Yeah, if you asked for a glass of soda here you'd get a glass of soda water. If you asked for a glass of pop you'd get a puzzled expression... or possibly someone's grandfather in a glass.

I like being asked for a coke, then I reply with a specific kind of "coke".
Let's face it though. We all call it Mountain Dew.
