When I was a kid, I exploited the hell out of Pokemon Blue. MissingNo, you were my saviour. You and your many, many, Masterballs.

...

That sounded a bit wrong.

But I don't use cheats anymore, unless I'm just messing around to kill time on something.

Of course, with my copy of FireRed on the way, I guess I'll have to go back and play Pokemon the honest way.

I sometimes look up a walkthrough to adventure games if I've spent hours without figuring it out. I always feel like a fool for doing so, but these days I don't have the time to get stuck forever.

Oh, and I cheated on the sniper level in Chernobyl in CoD4, but I figured that the game was the one who started cheating so I just wanted to level the playing field. I generally found CoD4 to be an incredibly frustrating experience of broken game play and uneven challenges. And that's the kind of things that make me consider cheating.

Only for the lols, like if me and some friends are playing haf life death match, changing gfravity can make it really fun, or using skins that are extremely small and hard to see.

If cheat codes enhance the enjoyment of the game why not. I typically don't use them and never use them in multiplayer but I have been known to throw in some weapons and ammo codes to go on rampages in GTA after I achieved satisfaction with the challenge of the game.

There were a couple of games where I had to input cheat codes just to continue.

Such as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Mafia, Star Wars: Episode I and Half-Life: Blue Shift. These games were broken, and no patches would work, so I had to skip certain parts.

I play one time through honestly, and then cheat like a mofo. God mode, here I come.

None of the options are good for me. I cheat when there is an element of the game that annoys me, and I can remove it via cheating. I want to maximize the enjoyment I can get out of the game, and then there's no point in sticking with bothersome functions just because you should.

I usually play the games 1-3 times all the way trough and then try with cheats maybe.. Theres only 2 games that i after first completion cheat in always, GTA and Saints row. It's so much fun så be invincible and spray poop on people it's simply. And i quote the greates man alive "Legen.. Wait for it.. Dary!" Barney stinson..

I get into frequent arguments with my friends about cheating. I know some people that cheat as soon as they get the game, but I really can't se ehow people can derive satisfaction, or economic worth from games when they essentially spoil it straight away.

Surely one of the primary satisfactions of gaming is the sense of actual achievement, and pissing about with GodMode and infinite ammo is secondary... once the primary satisfaction has ebbed away. This is why I'm totally against DemoPlay, and all in favour of unlockable cheats like in COD4.

I don't think I need to mention GTA games... they've been pretty well covered.

When I was younger I would always play games on easy with cheats, they just seemed really hard... I've since become better at games and started enjoying the challenge they brought. Except GTA IV, I need the health cheat in that game...

Just like the OP I used to cheat in Games when I was younger. But this stopped quite a long time.

I only cheat in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (the title is to long!) but, when ever I do cheat, it's just to mess around. I don't save my progress when I cheat.

I came with a crash-course test with cheats in the original Tak and the Power of Juju (yes, I used to be a child too), because the cheats themselves could completely alter the games structure and timeflow. Or in simple terms... it messed the game up. So no, no more cheats for thou.

Similar to the OP, I used to cheat alot when I was younger, mostly on games that would frustrate me. I remember I would always die in FF5 to this certain flame boss, so I just cheated my way through, similarly I would always cheat when I could as a youngster. Then I started to get older, and understood that I just needed a different approach, so I stopped cheating, and like to play through with the challenge.

Though cheats that alter what character you are and etc are still fun (though rare)

Sometimes on the extremely rare occasion, I'll use a cheat if I'm bored or I've already beaten the game normally just for giggles. I find it's much more satisfying to beat a game without cheating if at all possible.

I used to cheat. But now if I do, its only to give the characters big heads or funky costumes. Much more rewarding to do it yourself.
