Wikipedia says, "Nerd is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests rather than engaging in more social or popular activities."
So, I suppose I am a nerd.
Oh in that case definitly. Glad Wikipedia and Max could clear that up.

I have had too much sex to be a nerd.

Anyway, I don't really know. Since I'm typing on an internet-forum thinking whether I'm a nerd I probably am, but I have loads of friends who I go out and get drunk with while we discuss things like women, sports, videogames, steven seagal movies, philosophy, beer, women, World of Warcraft and the only one of my friends who still plays it, getting some good weed somewhere, comics, whether we should have more beer, cars, history, women, women and women.

I think the real reason I have some nerdy things going on is that I'm just too lazy to go out and be social all the time.

I find being a geek so great, there are times when I wish I could be more geeky..
It is highly embarrassing to engage in a marvellous debate on Nintendo vs Playstation and stop to say "Wearing shorts with ankle socks is a fashion crime!" Eurgh.
On the bright side, my cats will always understand me :)

Goddamn right, fuck them and their "derogatory connotation". They're just jealous, because we have all the fun; when we're not busy running the planet.

Hey, just because I'm not a virgin, doesn't mean I'm no longer a nerd. Case and point: Bill Gates. Who, be the way, is totally my hero; nerd, capitalist, family man.

I guess so...yeah why not! I'd rather be intelligent and be insulted for it than be...lets say...intellectually challenged and be praised for it.

GO INTELLIGENCE!

Nerd. It's better than being...normal. Normal people...are boring.
This man speaks the truth.

But yeah, I'm nerdier than most people I know. I'm not a Trekkie or full-blown otaku, but I care less about popular music and sports and more about important things like the internet and video games. I also like math and science more than most of my peers, and am pretty much helpless with music and celebrity things. I'm a pretty big video game and anime fan and am more interweb-savvy than most. Also, I'm one of those mutants among humanity who considers math not arbitrary and boring but the embodiment of harmony, beauty, and meaning in this world, far more meaningful and beautiful than what is taught in English. In all fairness, though, school does a good job of presenting math as stupid and arbitrary busywork, making stupid gimmicks to teach it (like this Agilemind stuff at my school, used it some, didn't learn much of anything, a waste of a few good thursday's), and overall being clumsy and oafish in teaching it.

Sorry for the minirant at the end, just something that really irks me.
Ever thought of being a math teacher?
Maybe. My classmates in my math class say I should teach it, but that's partly because the teacher who replaced our original teacher doesn't teach well at all. I'd probably become a physicist or engineer, though, but would try to teach some math if I could.

I'm a closeted nerd, thank god for the internet and forums. I'm socially active, play sports, work out and have a healthy relationship. But I also love video games, politics, super heroes and just general geeky things. Closeted nerds everywhere unite.

Yes, because all I do is sit around playing Xbox 360 in my basement, but then again I do go hang out with my friends, mainly play dodgeball, and football. Thats about it.

Someone who has a girlfriend *zing*

I'd call myself a nerd. Top of my class, always got my nose in a book.
And I don't use wikipedia as my dictionary
That's not a title.
"Hey nerd!"
"Hey dick!"
"Hey someone who has a girlfriend zing!"

It just doesn't work.
You know that.
Oh boy, pedantic wars! :p

He had said term. Not title.
Term- a word or group of words designating something, esp. in a particular field, as atom Title- in physics, quietism in theology, adze in carpentry, or district leader in politics.
a descriptive or distinctive appellation, esp. one belonging to a person by right of rank, office, attainment, etc.: the title of Lord Mayor.

Now there's a difference between the two. A title you can call someone anywhere, a term can be used to describe them.

*continues to derail thread for the sake of his own nerd-dom*
*begins to wonder if changing this to messages would be better*

That is because you sir, are boring.
I just feel this need to be right. It's almost like I pursue "intellectual activities."

Of course not, that's what Wiktionary is for.
Ain't got shi* on Urbandictionary :p

Oh and just to be further arrogant, I say that mainstream gaming does not make you a nerd. Neither does halo wars.

Okay, you may be unaware of this, but this is kind of what I do.
Derailing threads, or causing others to do so, is my shtick.
Honestly I don't really care that much, you can't change the votes and thats where the Information is. Plus it keeps the thred near the top of the list.
