Depends. I'm pretty good at making posts that lack mistakes, but I do go back and fix things if I spot them after I post.

Yeah, if I see a typo in my posts, it becomes all I can see. I'm completely compelled to fix it.

I never edit my posts to change their content. If I'm wrong on something, I'm wrong and I'll generally be the first to admit it. I will, however, occasionally edit them to alter blatant spelling or grammar mistakes after I hit the post button. I do try to proofread my posts before I post, but there are certainly times when I'm in a hurry, half asleep, having a brain cramp, etc. and a mistake is too stupid not to fix.

I spend a long time composing posts, moving sentences and paragraphs around. I rarely hit Post until I'm fully satisfied. I edit if:

People are misunderstanding what I've written because it can be read more than one way;

I forget something of critical importance;

I make an error in spelling or composition. I very rarely misspell but it does happen. I detest poor spelling in others, I think it indicates ignorance and contempt for the written word. To me the spelling of a word is every bit as important as its definition. I am always very careful to get things right. Bad grammar bothers me, but less so.

Yes, usually for adding content. I tend to think of something good to add right after I submit my original post. Irritating, but less irritating than not being able to add extra thoughts.

When I go to post something I do my best to keep it correct in regard to spelling and gramar. I will not obsess over it, but I will glance over it and see if there is anything that really stands out. Usually I would correct something before posting, but I often will find a word that doesn't make sense, or a mistake later on if I am still looking at other posts in the forum. I will try to do my best. I will look up a word if I am unsure of its spelling, or I will read something out loud to myself to make sure that it sounds alright.
I would fall under the catagory of using edit often. I do correct mistakes when I notice them because I want what I post to look nice. I want people to notice what I write and understand what I write rather than try and figure out what I meant to type. Still, I really only edit small mistakes - perhaps a word here or there. I do not make big changes like add a new paragraph, or remove an entire paragraph. I just like to do touch ups, which is why I really like the edit button. The edit button allows the poster to do touch-ups when they do not notice something at first, or when they want to change a phrase to make something sound better.

Yeah, I edit all the time. If its before someone else posts I just do a regular edit. If someone else has posted already I do an edit disclaimer.

Yes. I hate making typos and grammatical errors.

I often go back to change something I've said, if I have read through it again and it sounds silly.

I will to fix spelling/grammar mistakes, mainly because I don't want some annoying little know-it-all to gain satisfaction from correcting me.

Yes. I also occasionally edit in random afterthoughts.

Also, I like to edit other people's post.

If I see a need to edit, I edit. Grammar, spelling and ninjas are usually why I edit. Although sometimes I completely re-do a post because I feel that it's stupid.

Hey guys; since it's fairly easy on this forum to go back and change your posts, how often do you do it? Personally, I review my post after posting (even though doing it before posting would make way more sense) and change grammar & spelling mistakes all the time here. I also add things I failed to mention by adding the "EDIT" disclaimer.

What about you guys? Do you ever find mistakes in your post? If you do, do you edit it, or just let it be?

EDIT: The poll didn't seem to show up. Also, metaedit.
I do edit my posts every time I noticed an error. I'll often edit them if I made an assholish comment and am embarrassed about it. But I won't erase the comment, I'll offer an apology and call myself out.

Also, how did you get your poll to show up finally? I just had one not work for me. That's the first time it's happened to me.

I often mess up with negative/possitive in sentences when I'm going fast. I'll also get a head of myself and leave words (normally verbs) out.
But when that happens and I notice it I'll fix it.

I'll also edit my posts to add more information, instead of just posting again.

Sure I edit, not so much for spelling, grammar or punctuation, but to enhance content or clarity.

I always preview my posts and look for spelling mistakes. Sometimes I rearrange the entire post if it just doesn't make sense. Grammar doesn't bother me that much as long as I can get my point across. I'm not concerned about whether my comma should have been a semicolon, or my quotes are properly quotation marked etc..

EDIT: I only use these if I have a thought I want to add afterwards. Like this one.
