I don't hate Americans, I just think the fact that such a large proportion of you voted for George Bush not once, but twice, must say something about your nation's average intelligence.
First of ALL; the first time he was elected the vote was so close it had to be recounted and was decided by the courts who one. The first time in history we've had to do that and many people still to this day feel that the decision was wrong.
Secondly; In the second election he won by the smallest margin in history for an incumbent (currently elected) president.
Our electoral system is archaic and broken though lets say a candidate wins 2 out of the 3 sections of a state well then they get all 3 sections. Or in California where there are 56 sections if they win 29 then they get all 56 votes. So sometimes people win who aren't elected by the actual 'majority' vote like Bush.

There are 350,000,000 people in this country (legally) and you're going to knowingly judge a half of them because of the other half? Not counting the people not old enough to vote of course.

It's stupid I know.

I know lots of people were nervous with Americans dropping the bomb on Japan, and looking back on it there had to be a better way, but at the time it seemed the best option.
In other words "It seemed like a good idea at the time". To be fair to the Americans, this pretty much sums up the entirety of a million years of slowly evolving human intellect, in a nutshell.

Now, America is in top position, for however long that will last. Boo hoo, deal with it. In another few years we probably won't be, and you can ***** and moan about the people who'll be calling the shots then.
You're probably right. Problem is, America will nuke planet Earth to smithereens before giving up "the shots", and anything strong enough to actually 'remove' America from this position will need even more nukes, save for something divine.
I really don't see the point in bitching and moaning, because we'll all blow ourselves to pieces anyway in the long run; I'm pretty sure that's the ultimate destiny for mankind, preordained from the moment 'this' ape decided it would be a good idea to hit 'that' ape with this rock...

Still, life goes on I suppose. Even if humans fall out of the eternal struggle to survive, some other poor species will always come out on top. Sorry, I'm tired and I'm philosophising. Continue with your flame war if you wish, I'm off to get some shut eye.

I don't hate all americans, but all the talk about how wonderful and free their country is and waving the flag and making a very patriotic speech in movies all the time, im not saying that there's something wrong about being patriotic but maybe they should dial it down a bit =). I would never live there even though "it's the best country in the world" they got shitloads of crime. They have approx. 12.000 murders a year, i wouldnt dare walk outside at night, even in a good neighbourhood.

And also with their rights, most of them see it as a law. In some states you have the right to shoot someone if they walk on your property, but some of them do it just because they can, when they can just let the 12 year old boy/girl just move back to the street and walk there when they accidently touched their right foot on their lawn.

Maybe that's the only side you see on TV, i still think it can be great over there, i would love to travel to like NYC or LA. There's lots of things that are great that come from the U.S such as:

Movies
Music
Games

I hate ANYBODY who's like that, regardless of where they're from.

Edit: What amuses me, and at the same time makes me die a little inside, is the fact that the people calling Americans "elitist bastards", are, in fact, making themselves the "elitist bastards" by saying so. "I'm better than you", "this sucks more than that", whatever. You can't judge an apple by an orange. The countries are just too different to compare them to each other.

Just the previous republican-ran government. I love American culture (minus the religious aspect, and illogical patriotism), technology etc ... etc .... same goes for say the Japanese culture/tech etc ... etc ...

But I do admit, I hate the ignorant and bigoted people I tend to deal with online although 90% of the Americans I personally know, are among the nicest and most logical people I had the opportunity to deal with (Canadians always come up first though, Mauritians last, i hate Mauritians) .

Well it's a British thing to hate Americans :p. We don't really hate you guys btw, too much in common. You're like our ver-enthusiastic, beach loving, gun owning children :p. I make jokes about Americans, and I actually want to go to America, I think it's a facinating place.

The reason that oother coountries hate Americans is because right now, your on top. Now, before your ego gets too big let me just say that you werent and wont always be on top lol. These things go through cycles. Before world war 1 the British were in your position, everyone hated us then aswell.

I don't hate Americans per se. I hate Christian fundamentalism, I hate neoconservatism, and I hate neoliberalism. But I don't blame the rest of Americans for that, they were just unlucky to be born in a country where ideals are more important than people.

I'm an American and I hate Americans. It's not hard to see why. People in other countries would fight and die for the right to vote and my generation can't be fucking bothered to turn off their xbox long enough to vote, my wife included. The amount of indifference I see toward other countries that actually need help while we attack countries under the guise of "helping" is - for the lack of a better word - disgusting. My father thinks our own president is a muslim terrorist (and also somehow a Marxist). It turns my stomach to know that Fox News just keeps seeding this bullshit, too.

And please, will everyone realize already that Bush was put into power not by the people, but by the Supreme Court (and I question the legality of their decision).

That's because you're not old enough to know anybody from the period when the British built statues of themselves as Roman emporers and veiwed themselves as the guiding light of the world. I'm not old enough either, but trust me, during the victorian times the British were cocky.
