Tell me. The main body of your post there. Where did you learn all that stuff about America? I'm guessing news, and movies. Movies are fiction, and even the non-fiction ones are influenced by the people who made them. If the movies aren't American movies, then they are probably going to be biased against Americans, and portray them based on the stereotype that they know. News in itself is impossible to be unbiased as well. Stuff happens, and when it does, people make their own opinion of it, often influenced by the opinions of the majority of the people around them, and when they share that story, they pass on that opinion on to the people they tell that story to. When it's somebody on television passing on the story, people tend to subconsciously believe them more than if somebody on the street would have told them.stridsvagnen said:I don't hate all americans, but all the talk about how wonderful and free their country is and waving the flag and making a very patriotic speech in movies all the time, im not saying that there's something wrong about being patriotic but maybe they should dial it down a bit =). I would never live there even though "it's the best country in the world" they got shitloads of crime. They have approx. 12.000 murders a year, i wouldnt dare walk outside at night, even in a good neighbourhood.
And also with their rights, most of them see it as a law. In some states you have the right to shoot someone if they walk on your property, but some of them do it just because they can, when they can just let the 12 year old boy/girl just move back to the street and walk there when they accidently touched their right foot on their lawn.
Maybe that's the only side you see on TV, i still think it can be great over there, i would love to travel to like NYC or LA. There's lots of things that are great that come from the U.S such as:
Movies
Music
Games
The atheist "movement"? I hope you're talking about insane people like Richard Dawkins, and not just anyone who has simply made the cognitive decision to not believe in an invisible man in the sky. Most atheists think the idea of a "movement" is hypocritical. And what has PETA ever done to earn your ire also? Sure, they're egotistical crybabies but last time I checked that's not much of a reason to hate someone. At least they're trying to do something positive, which is more than I can say for most Americans. Apathy is something I personally hate in America so anyone trying to make a positive change, or what they perceive to be a positive change, without hurting others gets kudos from me.Lyiat said:How can you even begin to justify hating an entire region of people because of a select few people with -really- loud voices? Thats a might bit unreasonable... Sure, hate certian people -in- America, like Scientology, or PETA, or the Atheist movement, or whatever gets your fancy, but the American people? Hardly.
Seems like a strange question; the reasons were all laid out in Yahtzee's HAWK review. It's because of half a century of continuous aggressive warmongering and replacing democratically elected governments who didn't do what you wanted, with ruthless dictators who did.US Crash Fire said:after watching Yahtzee's HAWX review, im wondering why hating Americans is the "cool" thing to do.
Hi, I'm Jacob. I'm a nice American. Nice to meet you. *Shakes hand* If you are interested in talking to a nice American, then I'd be happy to give you my MSN, or Yahoo, although I feel I should warn you, I am sarcastic and cynical.garjian said:yeah i hate Americans...
normally id say most but unfortunately, ive never once met a decent American.
Whereas I live in the UK and where I live you wouldn't dare go out alone at night.HydraZulu said:"12,000" murders a year out of 303,824,640 (according to Google) isn't making too big of a dent, and 4,138,349 people were born in 2005, with the birthrate climbing each year. The bigger a country is, the more murders there's going to be. Also from Google, you are 32 times more likely to die from heart disease than be murdered. If you live in places with high crime rates, of course you need to be careful, but I live in a suburb in Minnesota, and there is nothing wrong with going out at night here. It's calm, and beautiful actually.
Where in the hell did you hear that? I have never, ever, EVER heard of such a thing. And also with their rights, most of them see it as a law. Pretty much what I was going to say. I hate all nations equally.Dante_Alucard said:I don't hate americans I hate everyone no matter where they are from
i doubt it :>HydraZulu said:Hi, I'm Jacob. I'm a nice American. Nice to meet you. *Shakes hand* If you are interested in talking to a nice American, then I'd be happy to give you my MSN, or Yahoo, although I feel I should warn you, I am sarcastic and cynical.garjian said:yeah i hate Americans...

Thank you for judging my entire country based upon your online interactions with Xbox Live, because everyone knows that is the best possible pool of American culture you could have drawn experience from.garjian said:yeah i hate americans...

i play PSU and well... ive met thousands on that by now... hundreds on soul calibur...
and every single one of them is the same... arrogant, self centred... they even all use the same insults...
their media they seem so intent on forcing on the UK is practically completely ignorant that other countries exist... and god if there is any forgeigners... theyre the most ridiculous over exagerated stereotype they can think of... played by an american.
i get tired of it...
Well, this is not the victorian times, are they? So why the history-lesson?matnatz said:That's because you're not old enough to know anybody from the period when the British built statues of themselves as Roman emporers and veiwed themselves as the guiding light of the world. I'm not old enough either, but trust me, during the victorian times the British were cocky.Sindre1 said:Yeah me too, but I have yet to meet a british guy that is like that. Or anyone else than Americans all together realy.
This is definitely an issue in America. Rush Limbaugh and other talk radio hosts just reinforce this attitude.eritsukukun said:I think Americans tend to confuse disagreement with hate. That is actually one of the problems I have with the US. because when you think someone hate you dont have to listen to the person. no normal person would. when I tell my friend that i dont like his views on something it doesnt mean i hate him. but if he takes it personal and thinks I hate him we wont be friends anymore and nothing is achieved.
If you confuse disagreement with Hate you wont have many friends and maybe thats what has happened with the US.
