The number of uneducated, even bigoted, answers in this thread pisses me off.

It pisses me off in the same way that I get pissed off when people within the United States rag on the southern states in the same manner, who form biases based on a complete lack of information about the region and furthermore refuse to travel the southern states to learn about the people there before making their unqualified statements.

It pisses me off in the same way I get pissed off when American individuals hate on Mexico, Central and South America, and European nations in exactly the same way some of them unjustly hate on us.

Do you hate Americans? The answer is no, you don't. You hate a collection of individuals who happen to be American, and you probably hate those Americans for the same reasons you hate certain members of your own nationality. Living as I do in a location in the US that is populated in large part by people from India, southeast Asia, and Central and South America, I inevitably encounter people who I cannot stand (this is bolstered by the fact that I work in retail, so I encounter lots of people). But do I draw the conclusion that this man who appears to be from India is representative of his entire culture, a culture staffed by over a billion people, itself made up of hundreds of smaller sub-cultures? Of course not.

Let me put this another way -- imagine if the question had been "Poll: Do You Hate Black People?" There are still people in the United States, and assuredly elsewhere, who would answer "Yes." "I cannot stand those negroes and their fried-chicken-eating, tv-stealing ways," they would say. "Look at how they congregate together on street corners, selling drugs, generally being a nuisance, and producing nothing," they finish, as, without any irony whatsoever, they meet up with their friends to congregate in bars, consume large quantities of alcohol, and produce nothing.

So, for anyone who responded in the fashion I'm complaining about, stop it. You're pissing off a sleeping giant. :3

Thank you for judging my entire country based upon your online interactions with Xbox Live, because everyone knows that is the best possible pool of American culture you could have drawn experience from.

I am American, and no, I'm not self-hating. I will say, though, that I hate some people here. This has nothing to do with their nationality; I'm just not going to "click" with every person I meet.

I think Americans tend to confuse disagreement with hate. That is actually one of the problems I have with the US. because when you think someone hate you dont have to listen to the person. no normal person would. when I tell my friend that i dont like his views on something it doesnt mean i hate him. but if he takes it personal and thinks I hate him we wont be friends anymore and nothing is achieved.

If you confuse disagreement with Hate you wont have many friends and maybe thats what has happened with the US.

Yeah me too, but I have yet to meet a british guy that is like that. Or anyone else than Americans all together realy.
That's because you're not old enough to know anybody from the period when the British built statues of themselves as Roman emporers and veiwed themselves as the guiding light of the world. I'm not old enough either, but trust me, during the victorian times the British were cocky.
Well, this is not the victorian times, are they? So why the history-lesson?
I would hate those kind of British, but as far as I know they dont exist anymore.

This is definitely an issue in America. Rush Limbaugh and other talk radio hosts just reinforce this attitude.

I'm just saying that the Americans aren't alone here. The people who handed the torch to them were the same, and their sucessors will be aswell.

That's a ridiculous accusation. I hate an entire country of people? I hate over 300 Million people? That's stupid. Generalizing an entire country is getting people nowhere. Its pointless discrimination. Sure, there are stupid Americans, ones who are ignorant, racist or just assholes but there are those kind of people in every country in the world. What makes other countries think they're so special that they are completely above the U.S. just because its government made some bad calls.
I'm even a really judgmental person and even I know not to make a fucking generalized hate thread like this.

Being American, I can say I hate some fellow Americans, but these people are usually idiot dickheads. For the most part, I find no reason to hate my own countrymen.

Even if I weren't American, I wouldn't hate them. I just plain don't hate people. I will hate ideas, things, concepts - you know, intangible things that can't hate back and can't have their feelings hurt. But I will NEVER hate another human being.
I would say this, but he said it first

While I very much dislike some of their politicians *cough*Republicans*cough*, how abrasive and callous some of their culture is, they are still my neighbors, online gaming friends, and extended family members. Lets just say I have concerns over some of the directions their country heads in and while I have my doubts about how genuine Barrack Obama is, voting him in was a big step towards stepping away from the dangerous path their were on and not just because of the color of his skin either.

I frankly wouldn't be surprised if some people hated Canada too if they new what some of our various politicians are like, especially within the Conservative and Liberal parties.

I don't hate Americans generally, certain individuals or groups yeah but that's no different to any other country (including my own).

Every nation has its segment of douchebags that you really wish would simultaneously emigrate to a tiny volcanic island that's about to explode and its not fair to judge all Americans on just the basis of some. The problem is that the idiots, bigots and criminally dishonest tend to be the loud ones who attract a lot of attention to themselves and ruin a nations reputation for everyone else.

Oh, so now, after complaining that you only meet assholish Americans, you're outright denying an opportunity to see the other side of the coin? I see. Well, from this point forward, I hereby declare that you have no right to complain about "never once meeting a decent American", because you were given an opportunity, and you threw it right back in my face. :p
