There have been some funny comics and he can draw really well. There's massive potential there. He just doesn't take advantage of it.

Don't like the plot, or the art. All his characters have an unnatural slouch suggesting something is seriously strange with spines on Planet CAD.

I enjoy the occasional parody though, and the Chef is pure win.

//Edit: as for the "wall of text" complaint: my current favourite webcomic is ALL WoT: http://www.viruscomix.com/subnormality.html

I used to read it but I actually stopped before Christmas, largely because of something I read... somewhere.

Basically what it boils down to is; his storylines are getting annoying, and his parodies are done better by Penny Arcade.

I can see why people hate it, I mean to have an overbearing story to the senseless "wtf"ary that is only updated 3 times a week. Least it has more plot development than Lost.

I was trying to follow Ctrl Alt Del for a while but it ventured off into melodramatic stories that weren't interesting to me. The biggest failing Ctrl Alt Del did is the same failing Apple Geeks did when it introduced a Ctrl Alt Del Lite, a black and white mini-comic that was supposed to be lighthearted and funny. It's my belief that once a comic that is supposed to be funny has to introduce a sub-comic to be funny because its main comic is now no-longer funny, that comic has failed...especially since that main comic was supposed to be funny all along.

For a comic with a title like CAD, it's surprisingly not about video games very much. Buckley's game references are usually dated, and you get the impression that he doesn't play many video games. So, you are left to look at his writing. Unfortunately, none of his characters act like human beings. He handles dramatic writing incredibly poorly, and no one really grows as a character. That is fine when you are doing comedy, but it falls apart when telling an overarching story.

The art is amateurish at best, but that can be ignored if the writing is good. Again, it's the combination of poor writing, poor art, and the fact that Ethan is a Mary-Sue (a character archetype that I cannot stand) I can't say I hate CAD, just like I can't say I hate a pile of dog droppings. It is just there.

Tim Buckley opens himself up to internet hate very easily. As a person, he doesn't seem to interact with others well, yet he puts himself in a public venue demanding attention. In addition, he surrounds himself with sycophants on his forum, and bans anyone who speaks ill of himself or CAD. Nothing attracts negative attention than ignoring your critics or people who honestly try and help you. It just encourages those critics to be louder, and strengthens their arguments. Still, he has secured internet infamy, that's a sort of fame in and of itself.
It's also impossible for me to type up any issues that haven't already been well established on the internet. I'm just one of many CAD detractors. Besides, the haters produce things that are much funnier than CAD could ever hope to be.

I'm not surprised so many people on this forum like it though.

i don't hate CAD. Like a lot of the people I've seen posting on this, I just sort of think that Buckley lost his mojo somewhere along the way and that it's not funny anymore. I remember laughing a lot the earlier ones, mainly just because they were incredibly over the top, for example when Ethan melts Frosty the Snowman with a hairdryer. But as it continued on, It just started to lose its humorous edge. It probably didn't help that I started reading the news posts. Unlike in some comics, Penny Arcade for example, where frequent news posts serve to help explain the comic and add some humour to the reading, Buckley's posts seemed to be some sort of bizarre forum in which he was was King and more often than not also the sole audience. He just spread his goddamn, self-righteous opinion all over everything. One thing I noticed in particular is that he seems to have this thing where he talks about a particular game, usually a popular one, that he hates in this light as if everyone else is wrong. He's sort of like a less likeable and humorous Yahtzee like that.

Alright, so CAD. After extensive reading on TVTropes, it appears that every single person on the internet hates Tim Buckly and hates what he does. And since The Escapist is one of the biggest gaming forums out there, I figured I'd ask your opinions. I know that this poll is fairly pointless, and the fact that once Yahtzee showed up, he turned you all into little clones of him, but I'm willing to run it anyway for kicks.

Now CAD can be divided into 2 different categories: The Plot (The part of the comic involving Ethan, Lilah and Zeke) and the Parodies (When Buckly does what gaming comics SHOULD do; gaming parodies).

Vote in the poll and PLEASE just try to post your opinion on both sections of Ctrl-Alt-Del's comic. I don't care if you hate something, so long as you have your reasons for it.

Personally, The Plot sections are alright, but getting really melodramatic now and starting to wear on my nerves. The Parodies are actually really funny most of the time, when not blocked by a Wall of Text.
I dont hate the comic, I dont even hate the person.

I dislike the comic because it uses stale jokes, while the punchline gets killed by the 4 panel format and the wall of words that explains the joke.

I dislike the person because all indications of what he has done online and otherwise paint him as a douche.

He said he would send a CnD to a fan for making Fanart,
He stole a character design from someone else, denied it, backpedalled and then still didnt give a shit.
Pocketed the money from a fundraiser to buy a super expensive Drawing Tablet.

And lastly the most insidious one, playing the PITY ME CARD, after making a miscarriage storyline then making a news post about how he was so devastated that he had to end the relationship with the girl he was with, and how he has never gotten over the trauma.

From what I've seen he uses way too many words to get his point across and and the same face in every comic. B^U

That annoys me the most, I'd rather see mediocre drawings of action and expression than the same good picture. It should be ctrl+v instead of ctrl+alt+del.
