Another thing is, that usually someone needs to point me both "parody" thing in his comics, and "gaming". Usually someone needs to point me the "joke" part too. Maybe it's because completely abstract/black humour makes me laugh, like the Perry Bible Fellowship, comics made by KC Green(google it FFS), Gunnerkrieg(less humour, more into a quite weird story,) and one that takes place in some post-apocalyptic World War(forgot it's name, but really grim type of humour). Out of those gaming-related some of the Nerd Now are pretty good, but IMO gaming webcomics tend to be utter shit. Plus from what I heard, Mister Buckley tends to be a complete douchebag.

Now for the artistic side - same head shapes, same eyes, same mouth, more detailed backgrounds are often just photographs after photoshop teraphy.

So i remember REALLY liking the comic last year. Just checked back in it because of the comments. And... seriouslY? One WOW related parody and then about fifty pages back and not a single other one.

I don't like the comic but I can't hate the comic, it's not like the comic is running around forcing me to read it.

I haven't read it for some time, but no I don't hate the comic (both the plot and the parodies), I even bought the animated series DVD at the time, it was pretty good.

However I see it seems changed now: is there a new writer or did he change his drawing style ? The characters appear to be drawn older now. Also, the main storyline appears to be serious now, mm, strange.

Nothing I've ever heard about Tim Buckley is positive.

However, nothing I've ever heard about Tim Buckley is 100% reliable, either.

I'm reserving judgment on the man until I can get a true, first-hand look at some dickery he pulls, because obscure ED articles and TVTropes pages aren't enough when it comes to the hefty business of judging a person.

His comic.... I read it, but it's a big ehhh. Ethan has no true running gag and has turned into a fucking schizo.

I love Ctrl-Alt-Del , I've found about it a few weeks ago by mistake and I couldn't stop until I finished reading them all
I don't care how arrogant or whatever Tim Buckly is.. the comics started good, continued good and are still good.
@wildpeaks: Of course the story line is more serious.. the characters have their own life/personality now..they evolved. They can't just do the same thing forever or else it will get boring fast.

Yes, well I didn't mind it when I spent a brief period reading it but then stopped like I did with most other comics.

I only really hate it because my good friend Grey e-mailed the guy asking him for his opinion on his comic. The reply was a two-page e-mail basically telling Grey that he and his webcomic sucked. I have read the comic (which no longer runs) and found it to be quite excellent.

The comic was Untitled Comedy #34.

I don't understand why people hate it to be honest. Could someone enlighten me to the reason(s)?

I think haters mostly...well, hate it because of the more dramatic direction Tim went with the comic. I love the comic, too, but only because I've grown somewhat attached to the characters over the years. I miss the good ol' days where Ethan would just get drunk and invent holidays or build time machines, but I also care now what actually happens to them.

That, sir, is called character development, which movie critics love and most shallow people hate. Most gamers just want to see stuff blow up and hear witty one-liners instead of seeing characters slowly evolve.

And the same people that ***** about CAD are the first to ***** about characters being one-dimensional in RPGs. The irony, oh how I love it.

EDIT: Not all people that hate CAD are closed-minded.

I don't hate it but after reading several of the comics (Up to a few months ago) I'm still yet to laugh. The man's sense of humor is childish at best and I'm yet to understand why he has such a large fan base.

But each to their own I guess.

Scmeh. I don't hate it, it's just so... bleh. I've never gotten a laugh out of it, but I'm a little confused why it's hated so vehemently; 2 and a half men or any other generic sitcom on t.v. incite far greater levels of rage in me, CAD is just kinda boring.
Penny arcade I used to find funny, It's pretty hit and miss these days though. The only gaming webcomic I've seen that was consistently hilarious was Concerned. Chris livingston is a pretty entertaining blogger too at that.

No, but it's not my favourite webcomic either. It seems like ages since he's done a gaming comic, and is trying to build the characters and has only just started doing this, after all the jokes.

Seriously, I don't care about Ethan's brother (who is never mentioned before this event) and some Mafia crap that isn't funny, give me something game related.

That's what I usually hear when it comes to people raging over CAD. I don't understand it though. Penny Arcade is shoveling shit everywhere in everyone face and they're loved and CAD does what? An unknown animated series and they're hated for it.

I do believe the rage does indeed come from Penny Arcade fans who feel Buckley has just stolen the idea from them and throws up a huge shitstorm everywhere they can. And these guys are no better than the Megatokyo fans. Now that comic is a damn rip off.

Instead of those comics though, you guys should be Checking out Dr. McNinja anyway.
