I hate kids because of the bizarre claims that revolve around them. All children are special? Children are our future? Children are innocent? Bullshit! But...really despite my resentment of the group when addressing individuals i don't view them as members of a group and view that person specifically. I do see a lot of examples of legitemately bad parenting and people do occasionally call out on it, but on the same token some kids are just dicks regardless of what their parents do, blaming everything on the parents does not address an extremely damaging problem in that some people don't address kids as human individuals at all, never letting them choose or learn for themselves.
...my ranting aside, i do hate kids and don't plan on having them, but on your little topic about people saying it's bad parenting as a subtle way of hating children? I don't get that vibe. I more often find it's because some people refuse to acknowledge kids are individuals and can be assholes just like adults.

Babies are loud, eat and chew anything in their immediate vicinity (I've had a nephew with a penchant for devouring the odd cockroach), and are safety hazards. Toddlers are cute and tend to be more well behaved, even though they're practically sociopaths who lack a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. Tweens are annoying, awkward, have **** taste in music (which they will volunteer to play loudly even when they're not asked to), and never stop following you (sk8ter bois are the worse, their mop hairdos and pseudo-Californian accents just infuriate me). Teenagers are noisy, hormone fueled, violent, common sense deprived, and scare the living hell out of me.

Despite all this I don't hate children, no. It's when they become fully aware of their surroundings after 12 and CHOOSE to annoy me that they become viable targets.

I love how everyone seems to hate kids and yet we all were kids at some point. Did you guys all hate yourselves when you were kids? Eh?

And seriously, why the generalizations and stereotypes? Not all kids are spoiled, tantrum-throwing brats like everyone here makes out to be. Just like adults, there are good kids and there are jerkish/bad kids. I've met various children throughout my life and while some were brats, I'd say most were actually fun, intelligent, good people. (kind of like society in general, eh?)

I tend to think that a kid's development is basically the sum of both their parents and their environment. If you see kids you don't like, it's probably a better idea to blame their parents than anything else. After all, who's to say that kid wouldn't turn out different had they been raised differently/by different parents?

Very intresting respone as my mother said I wasnt an easy child(I seemed to have cried a lot).
I think indeed kids are shaped by their parents and their enviroment.

Since I don't actually have a lawn off of which I could chase them, I'm kinda resorted to passive aggressive loathing when around children. Stupid things, what are you looking at, huh? What, wanna piece of me? Well, it's on now! (talking to the one year old sitting in a grocery cart).

Yeah, uhm...I'm actually considering a vasectomy at this point. I don't want children, and I'd hate for some accident to happen...

I voted yes, although it sort of depends on the child. I hate the really clantakerous and obnoxious ones although I suppose I could say the same thing about adults. I guess the difference is I've never felt anything stronger than indifference towards children and would never choose to be around even the more docile ones.

I just tend to ignore them. There aren't that many kids in my life and for now I wouldn't mind it staying that way.

Actually I don't mind the children as much, I'd say I'm more likely to hate parents than children.

Yes, they run at 100kmh around the place, they never shut up and insist on being loud at all time. They are dumb not really there fault but its still annoying. And they follow you round all the time ask 20 questions. AND they then get all cryie just because you tell them to fuck off and jump of a tall building god harden up sunshine

I don't hate them really,it's more I have no patience for them and they tend to make me do things I regret.

You should really define 'kids' better.

The teeny tiny buggers are cute as fuck (Well, at least so long as you only have to deal with them in small doses.), but once they pass the 3-4 year mark they are through with infancy and well into the metamorphosis of childhood. I can't really bear most kids between ages 3 through 18.
They're absolutely useless, act like they know everything, stupid (you can't hold it against them, but it's still annoying), and once they've grown up they're evil little bastards)

I'm only 17 myself, but I recognise that I was an annoying prick when I was a kid too (and probably still am).

Edit: Doesn't help that I've been on a plane ride earlier today either.

i hate kids. mainly kids that are obnoxious and don't know how to act in public. in highschool i rode the bus every day and we shared a bus with the elementary and kids from 2-6th grade are the worst imo

This thread is just going to be other Escapists whining about kids. Very annoying every time these thread topics roll 'round. Not you, OP, just the people who post. So, instead of fighting against them, I'm just going to post pictures of ponies.

Hate, hate, hate, haaate kids... Ugh. No. God. I won't even explain why, but...I hate them. Not to mention their fucking screams; if a kid goes on a trampoline, it is madness. They're so shrill. ;~;

Aw, come on! They literally haven't been round long enough, had a wide enough breath of experience or the cognative ability to fully appreciate their own impact (I think think makes me a 'nurture' over 'nature' person, right?).

What is telling is that none of the grumps have acknowledged that their own age bracket has it's own, probably worse, problems or, ironically, has these 'childish' problems magnified to a whole other level. Or did I just miss out on the part where we all became immaculate, faultless beings after high school?

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but yes I loathe children, as well as parents who think everything should subordinate to their needs.
