I like it if the connection when you play is good like in battlefield badco how the server is run by a pc instead of some idiot with sucky internet so it almost never lags or ends unless everyone quits. an its got a good lobby like in the WaW lobby where you see stats (If you Care) and see when someone invites you. plus if its evened out and it depends on how good or bad you are like in badco or cod 4, unlike WaW where mp40 kills everything no matter what.
Unless I'm really good at the game in question, I'm not really comfortable gaming with complete strangers. I'll play multiplayer with friends, sure, but "Matchmaker" mode? Unless it's Street Fighter, no way.
One thing that I don't like about MP games is that with one team losing and one team winning, and usually some experienced people owning while everyone else gets killed...about 50% of people playing the game aren't really having fun.
Someday I'd like to make some large-scale shooter that involves a lot of NPCs in a war, with players being "officers" of some sort. That way everyone gets cannon-fodder to shoot, even if they don't kill an enemy player.
Obviously I do, while some timeless games are just single-player, multiplayer keeps a game fun and alive. Best way to play games with friends is through multiplayer, I can't imagine the world without online multiplayer today.
I spend the majority of my game time on multiplayer games, but that's more due to the fact that I almost never enjoy replaying a single player game than anything else.
I love multiplayer because you cant beat some friendly competition, note however that when the friendly aspect is lost and the competition are aimboting and/or 24/7 uber players then its an evil time. Thankfully I can put up with these instances which are oftn few and far between, depending on the game of course. I have to say that Gears 2 multiplayer is almost the reason for knocking multiplayer down a notch in general, the number of times I raged at that game and the other players were only half the problem...
multiplayer isnt the main thing that i look for in a game most of the games that i got are single player but i do feel that the games with multi player in them do have a longer play life not only after completing the single player story but also if i get stuck on a boss or a certian level it gives me somthing to do untill i figure out how to beat it.
but i would rather have a game with a good story and fun single player game-play rather than a game with multi-player and single player and both being bland
I used to play COD:Modern Warfare online for my 360 but I got sick of hearing the same isnults over and over again. I use my PC for multiplayer now and I have noticed a bit more maturity among PC multiplayers.
I like it sometimes. With games lke Gears and Guitar Hero, but I prefer singleplayer. And there's nothing worse than when the game devs spend 5 mins making a cheap multiplayer for a game!
I'm voting based on one aspect, I love coop games. I know hellgate london wasn't the best RPG out there, but, I really miss the PvE in it. NWN was infinitely better in coop as well, hell the original campaign was actually fun when LANing with a couple D&D buddies.
I've played arena FPSs and some are fun, but, at the end, they remain kinda meh.
