I have a little shortsword that's not really functional, but I have a sweet butterfly knife which is all nice and sharp.

I've got 2 katana's , 2 short swords, various knives, and additionally, a metal shield and helmet. ...suit of armor, one day.
My brother owns a couple of replica "battle ready" katanas but I don't own anything longer or sharper than a butterknife myself. As for the zombie bit, although I am currently reading The Zombie Survival Guide, I don't buy into those specific zombies. The zombies I'm more worried about are ones that can spread the "virus" or whatever via more than bites et al. I'm worried about some of their splattered blood getting into one of my many cuts (f*cking cat). So I won't own a sword or anything because in my eyes if the zombies are already that close than I'm already dead.

No, but my dad has two, so it's only a matter of time. I do own an ornamental dagger. With a really pointy tip. You could poke the crap out of someone with it.
I have 2 Katanas by Musashi, but I'm more fond of my Cold Steel Recon Scout. It's supposed to be a large bowie knife, but at 8mm thick its more like a sharp pry bar!

I own a single sword that is perfectly capable of killing a similarly armed foe in a duel that I won as a prize in a fencing tournament. I also am in possession of five functional fencing foils at a given moment and enough parts that I could presumably piece together another three.
