Proxy servers, proxy servers.Loonerinoes said:Who's anonymous when everyone works from an IP address? I'm just thankful most don't know how to track them and don't have the obsessive nature of 4chan about it.
Good point about the Ad's. I HATE the adverts in my googlemail inbox that use keywords in your emails to then generate "related ad's". It's freakish.Hashime said:If the internet became more personal do you know what would become more personal as well, Ads! Yes, with anonymity we can avoid intrusive ads, without it I'm sure companies would track your personal information more than they do now, and spam you like crazy. Think of M.T. Anderson's "Feed". (I recommend this novel if you have not read it.)
Agreed. If I have the option to give out all of my personal info, I will decline the offer, but I won't stop anyone else from doing so (though I *do* think they're kind of dumb for doing so). Frankly, though, even if it all *was* face to face, there would just be other problems. Right now, we have anonymous trolls. If everything was face-to-face, we'd have people drowning the room with Numa Numa or some such. That, and when there are so many new names and faces to learn, people tend to stop caring about either, so it all comes full circle after a while.Mr. Doe said:I like how it gives you a choice to have anonymity or actually put yourself out there.
