Personally I like dubs. Especially in anime where I want to see whats going on and not read what they are saying. The lip synch issue doesn't get to me too much, I've been watching Godzilla movies since I was a kid, I'm kind of used to it.

it really depends on the quality of the dubbing I prefer it over sub titles since I think you lose a bit of what makes films films when you subtitle it and the viewer doesn't understand the language
however it just turns the film into a comical farce if the dubbing is of too poor quality

I prefer dubs when the dubs are really well done. Black Lagoon is one of those rare animes would should be seen in English, I felt. If you can't get a good dub, which is the case for most media coming in to the US, then I like it with subtitles.
Most anime with the western themes I find better with dubs.
Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Trigun and One piece..... last one was a joke.

Anything Japanese, dubbed. I just can't watch the original Japanese....At least in anime, the females always sound like they're having an orgasm every time they speak.

Other languages, either is fine.

Usually always dubbed. When I watch subbed, most of the time I turn the volume down to not get confused by Japanese voices, and I could miss story important parts or good music.

Plus, I want to watch it, not read it.

With live action movies, subtitles. I've never seen a dubbed movie that didn't seem awkward.

With anime, I'd prefer a good dub over subtitles, but for the vast majority of shows, it's subtitles.

I like reading manga a lot more than watching anime anyway, so reading captions isnt a big deal.

Subbed every time. I was traumatised by badly-dubbed telly when I was a kid - Heidi and Monkey Magic and the like - and have never been able to get over it.

Generally dubs unless they are really terrible. If I?m reading the subtitles all the time I tend to miss other things tho maybe some people don?t have this problem.

I'd have to go with subs.
In a lot of cases, most dubs are terrible, especially in anything that isn't animated.

Captions/subs. Most dubs are terrible and just seem to be mocking whatever I'm viewing. There are some exceptions to this (for instance some anime such as the English dub of Yu Yu Hakusho) but for the most part subs are better.

Captions in live action movies, voice dubs in Japanese cartoons. Because it makes Mexican action films that much cooler, but hearing the original voice work of a Japanese cartoon is a little different. I know a lot of words are taken out, but my head would blow up to 15 year old kid talking with the voice of a 12 year old girl.

I would only like voice dubs if I'm watching a cheesy kung-fu movie.

Captions if I'm watching an anime or something else with a large budget. (Unless the dubbed voice acting doesn't give me a headache when listening.)

Damn, I voted before I fully realized what the topic was. I thought it was about anime in which case I like dubs. But when it comes to foreign movies like Ip Man, then I prefer captions.

They're called Subs... as in subtitles. Captions are more or less headings or titles. Anyways, I voted subs.
