Some musicians, especially guitarists, easily climb up to a massively high horse, where they can valiantly look down upon the "lesser" musicians. Sometimes referred to as the Guitar God Complex. Often stems from the inability to judge your own playing, because you've never actually recorded any of it. Listening to your own playing, while playing, is an excruciatingly subjective experience. So a lot of musicians see themselves as far more "skilled" than they actually are.AquaAscension said:I always imagined that musicians hate new musicians, but most don't.
You know, people were actually playing guitars before Guitar Hero came out. In fact, people were playing guitars before video games were invented. Amazing!FoxyStig said:How many people here only play guitar because they were inspired by guitar hero. I mean seriously, I see guys around 15 playing guitars, I know they got lessons. BUT did they get lessons because of guitar hero, or did they always know how to play.
I started on guitar when I was 13, I'm now 35, so yeah um... no guitar computer games when I was learning. Yes I can really play, after 22 years I should hope I can play a little. These days I teach, and to be honest I think that the Guitar Hero games are a good thing because they spark people's interest in the instrument. Playing a guitar is very different though, and most guitar players aren't very good at the Guitar Hero games because they keep subconsciously wanting to move up the fretboard and play the stuff for real...FoxyStig said:How many people here only play guitar because they were inspired by guitar hero.
