I am currently learning how to play the guitar and I have never played that tacky piece of crap called 'guitar hero'.

I had long wanted to learn guitar. I had started teaching myself a few chords etc. Guitar Hero One was the straw that broke the camel's back. I stopped getting trumpet lessons, and started guitar lessons. I am happy to say that I don't play Guitar Hero anymore, unless a non-guitar playing friend challenges me. Oh yeah, I totally win too. xD

I've been playing real guitar for 3.5 years or so now. I've only just begun a journey that I hope will continue for the rest of my life.

I've always wanted to play the guitar as a kid, but I could never afford to buy one.
Earler this year, my best friend, who has quite a musical background, (he did music at our school, and had lessons on an instrument before he switched to the guitar about 3 or 4 years ago), bought himself a new guitar, and asked me if I wanted his old one and a few old accessories for it, (he has plenty of cash and has been very generous to me, he once took me to see Spamalot in London. BEST DAY OUT EVER!!).

I've only been learning it for about a month or two, and I might find it a little more difficult than some people, (I have only GCSE level music knowledge, (if at all! XD)), and I'm a lefty too, (guitar is right handed, but I am NOT going to buy a left handed one!), so my progress is going to be inevitably slow, but I am starting to learn chords, (except barre chords, my chubby index finger won't hold down all the strings properly! >;/), and I know a few basic tunes, (James Bond theme, Super Mario Bros. Theme, The sad song out of Super Mario RPG, my dodgy version of the eastenders theme, Kakariko Village, and currently going through Celes' theme), so who knows, I could actually be decent in a few years! XD

My friend exposed me to a whole new world of music (Deep Purple is one of the greatest bands of all time!), and gave me a decent start, (which admittadely, I would've been to afriad to pesue on my own).

Guitar hero has only ever given me access to music I've never heard of, and is a decent sampling tool.

Although I will admit before I met my best friend, I was in a school choir, (I remember I once sung the opening verse of Away in A Manger in front of a church full of people as part of the nativity play, (If only I had that courage now! XD)), and I loved Charols, Classical Music, and Videogame music (still do love 'em! :D), so I've had a fair share of input of music, (you can hear it in my improv, (it may also be the fact I never plug the guitar into its amp, as I'm afraid my bad playing may get me into trouble XD)).
