I don't play pen and paper D&D style games although I did when I was a kid. Although I only played it with me and one other person so I wasn't really doing it properly (the rules say you need a DM and two players, so 3 people minimum).

When on an online RPG I always roleplay though. I actually think these kind of games are pointless if you DON'T roleplay, because if you take the roleplay out all that's left is the grinding for items/loot/whatever and that's boring. I have to make RPGs and MMORPGs interesting for myself somehow and roleplay is how I do it.

And there are PLENTY of girls into roleplay. It's only when you get good at it that you realise how laid you get.

Yeah, I play D&D every week, its awesome fun. There are three DMs (two others and myself) so we switch, which is good as it keep things fresh.

Currently I am playing a Swashbuckler/Rogue and Swashbuckler/Bard.

Yeahhh.. I like my light fighters =\ haha
Heh, I usually DM alone but it gets tedious so I don't do it often, although everybody who knows me online bugs me to DM...

In 40ki might start cackling madly and asking Tezeench to bless my dice and shit, but that's about it. And i play other games kinda Tezeenchy sooo i guess that's role playing as well.

No, but would like to try in that case. I only RP inside WoW currently, though I have also looked into LARP (What's not to like about a game where you throw paper balls at somebody and yell "Fireball, Fireball!"?).

I want to be a talking bear. What do you think?

In all seriousness, I run World of Darkness games on a regular basis. I roleplay and act, two hobbies that complement each other pretty well.
Mmm, roleplaying helps with both writing and acting.
Precisely. Psychology helps as well.

RP is a little vage, could you be more specific?
Any kind of RPing. (Except the sexual kind. I've tried it... Awkword...) It's vague because it's general.

You mean like pen and paper RPGs, with possibly tabletops RPGs and LARPs thrown into the mix.

Yes, I play non-computer RPGs of the pen and paper variety. Currently I'm in a campaings of Blossoms Are Falling ( A Heijan-era addition to the Burning Wheel, as the japanese people of the time saw the world: Kami's, demons and spirits abounds with Bushido playing central role.)

Then there is also a 'new World Of Darkness': Mage the Awakening campaing going on, though it has slowed down a bit lately due to real life concern with some of our players.

I used to GM Cyberpunk 2020 fairly much years ago, but then I got bored with it, started uni and no people here wanted to play it. Instead we switched to nWoD, Runequest and Burning Wheel.

But yeah, I'm semi-active roleplayer and I like it a lot. No constraints of computer RPGs, literally infinite amount of solutions to any given problem and with a good GM a you can bring your own ideas into the game, set your own goals and get rewarded for accomplishing them.

No LARPing for me though, curiously that is something I never got into or even like.

but seriously, kinda I mean D&D's great fun and all and I'm kind of in character most of the time, there's just not really a back story or more then a vague motivation to my chracter most of it's made up on the spot and it's kind of a personality but then the whole back story and character and actually stay in alignment stuff. as for the other stuff I kinda like not being banned.
I find that a good GM requires the player to come up with a few long-term goals for the character, at the moment the character is created. It helps to create that motivation, gives direction and awards you if you manage to complete some of those goals.

I also like the Burning Wheel style of character building: Create, with the GM, a set of three beliefs for your character. Each belief consists of a philosophical statement, reason for it and how it affects your character, preferably tied into a goal.

Example: "Druids are aloof and amoral self-delusional recluses. They could have saved plenty of people from my village many times in the past, yet have not only declined but done nothing to prevent further tragedies. Because of this, I shall never trust a druid and will actively oppose any of their actions near my home region."

Goes well with a personal goal of "driving the druids away from the nearby forest at my home village. They are not wanted, needed or necessary. I shall do this even if I have to kill them all."

Suddenly that thief from the middle of nowhere, while supposedly being only greedy before this, has motivation to succeed, a goal to strive towards in periods of low activity and one that can give the GM plenty of opportunities for sidequests. Also livens up the character interactions: what if a party member is a druid? or they are hired to escort a group of people with a druid among them? Perhaps a little vial of poison would suddenly find it's way to the hands of our thief before the journey starts...

And perhaps this particular druid is travelling precisely because he doesn't agree with his fellow druids on the policy of non-interference, but because this is shameful he doesn't tell of it to anyone and wishes to change things from 'behind the scenes'. And on the first night the group stops, a particular thief happens to be the cook, unaware of the consequences of his act...

And suddenly a simple character motivation has sprawled into a fully-fledged quest.

What like with a girlfriend?

Anything other than that is umm...not really for me. I have nothing nice to say about it, so i wont say anything at all.
Heh, I meant more on that fantasy adventure type RPing (Y'know, with a DM and all)... Not sexual RPs with a GF.
Darn, then no not really. I do a little but not a lot.

I'm bored so I am starting a thread, this is my first one ever. I roleplay and I'm curious to see if anyone else here does aswell. Since some of you are confused about which roleplaying I'm talking about. I mean the kind with a DM and such. (Hurray for editing.) I did check if this was done before (Not effectively) so don't get angry if it has.
