You have to remember that noobs are different from newbs. Noob implies idiocy and unwillingness to be rational. Newbies are very often very friendly and will listen to everything you say, because they actually have free-thinking minds. I usually ignore noobs, but help newbs.

I help noobs that are new to a game. I boo at noobs who have played a game for a longer amount of time, still suck and influence my gameplay.

i played EQ 1 for years. one thing i ran into there that is missed in this poll i think, is that its often hard to tell who is an actual TRUE noob.

im the kind of person that will help a noob, hell sometimes you can reach a ppint in a game when you are so bored at the moment that you will go out of you way to find a noob to help.

trouble is that with games where you can have alts, and if those games have been around for a while, it gets too the point when you cant tell a noob from an alt. now i dont have problems with helping ANYONE usualy, but i get annoyed as hell, when i think im doing a good deed and taking a noob under my wing only to find out (usualy after ive wasted alot of time) that i was just 'helping' some level 70 guys alt.

example. in EQ 1 i ran across a guy once that was a level 10 warrior, he was in a semi-tough zone for his class and level, and he was trying to farm spider silks to get his tailoring skills up. i stoped after chatting with him for a bit on my way through, and spent a good hour killing massive ammounts of spiders and letting him loot the silks. all the while chatting with him about the class and the details and some 'short cuts' too tailoring. i was thinking all along what a good deed i was doing, i recalled farming those same spider silks myself years ago and how it took me weeks of time to do what i was doing for him in a few minuts. all in all i was really rocking the 'nice guy' vibe.

anyhow once i cleared the zone (several times) and got him a months supply of silks, not too mention some semi-fair drops off of higher end mobs he wouldnt have had no choice but too run screaming from in terror had they show up (plus i admit i was showing off my 'powa' in taking them down with ease) he then says too me as i was leaving.

'thanks for the help, i would have loged into my 70 druid and did this but i was feeling lazy today' i was pissed. i went from helping a noob to being taken advantage of by an old hand. (he actualy sent me a message the next day from his druid). thing is ida helped him anyhow actualy even if i knew he had a druid alt. i dont mind helping people and it wasnt THAT much of an effort to farm the goods, but it was the whole thing of going from being a nice guy doing a good deed to being a chump that was taken advantage of.

my take on the poll would be there are no noobs. if i chose to help i will but i dont make a point of trying to help noobs because you can be certian they ARE noobs.

I dunno, I went through a stage in WoW of buying new peoples stuff off them for about 5G-10G, which is a very good deal on them, it was just funny for me to watch naked people kill wolves... But apart from that, I wouldn't unless they are being really obnoxious, like declaring people should give them money/boost them, then I will just lay into them.

i do this^

I really only do that if they're willfully ignorant or excessively rude. If I give somebody a website that has everything they'd ever want to know about a game, and they persist in asking me questions every five minutes, I'll tell them to leave me alone, and possibly fling an epithet or two at them.

No, I help them. Everyone has to start a noob, what's the point in punishing them for it?

However, people I think are being willfully stupid or nasty get it in the neck from my swingin' hammer of banning.

I do it because they need to be put in their place! And also I'm there to get them out of there by using constructive criticism. :p

Nope. After playing DoBRP on Warcraft 3, I learned that it's better to teach them. Unfortunately, they stopped coming because a lot of the hosts were asshats, and the DoBRP maps died out.
Teach them while you can, otherwise they will ***** and whine.
Now, idiots on the other hand...

Depends on what game sir. I'm an avid F.E.A.R. player, so yes, I shame the noobs in that aspect.

Nope. On every MMO game I played, if I'm a veteran player and I hear someone new to the game ask me something about it, I help them to the best of my abilities.

I'm a wimp when it comes to insulting noobs. I'm just too nice *heveanly chorus with halo and angel wings*. Usually I try to help them out, but whenever someone is being a jerk then they better prepare to suffer.
