All the fucking time.

See? I put the word fucking in the sentence so you get my point. Clever eh?
Lol, how did I ever guess that'd be the first thing said??

Personally, it runs in phases. I did catch myself at about 14 managing to work at least 3 curses into every sentence, then I realised I was just wasting breath to say.... nothing at all. So I hauled out and dusted off my vocabulary and started using real words again.

Swearing is great for emphasis, rage, or that jerk driving ahead of you, but I don't tend to use it in written communication or normal conversation.

Besides, I was raised with a BBC accent, despite being Aussie, and as my best friend once put it (we were about 9 at the time): "You can't swear. That accent makes you sound stupid whenever you try."

occasionally, i try not to. I dont really like excessive use of them words, but i have a higher tolerance to them than anyone really. And i mutter them to myself when i'm mad.

I do; not quite at sailor level, but getting close to it. It's really awkward since most of my current-school-anime friends are super pure, het only, types.

...Also, when the fuck was "smut" deemed a bad word? "Mature smut" I could understand since its usually just gratuitous sex, but the normal kind too?

swearing is like using spices on a meal. It make it better. But to much make you look like a jackass.

Not at all, really. I guess I'd swear more if english was my native language. In dutch it just sounds so silly.

The reasoning behind my lack of swearing is this:

Such words are excuses to circumvent truly expressing oneself with actual dialogue. They are ways to avoid saying what is really on one's mind. Instead of elaborating on one's feelings that person will simply swear and project their emotions as angry and blind. Vulgarity in language is simply a disguise.

Just sayin'...

On occasion. The reason I do not do it more frequently is not because I think that the words themselves are vulgar or offensive, but because I feel that the impact of swearing is lost if it is constantly employed. If every second word in a sentence is profane, profanity tends to lose its edge. Besides, using "fuck" every other word makes you sound like a simpleton with a volcabulary of about twelve words.

Swearing is for emphasis, humour, or to show that you are really angry.

I tend to use the F word when I'm really pissed off, though I use the other words as well... to a point.

I never used to (ie before sophomore year in college), but I realized how much more effective it can make some (read: very situational) informal dialogue. I'm also an aspiring comedian, so it sort of comes with the territory when you want to yank a laugh out of the audience. On the whole, however, I try to keep it to a minimum out of taste (and respect for my crowd, which generally comprises professionals, parents, and children these days).

As if it was prayers for a global religion, and I was the only member having to sustain the workload. To express anger, though, I use a full barrage of literary techniques, mostly without such vulgarities. It keeps people on their feet, you see. My Grandpa used to tell me that people who cursed were too stupid to think of a more intelligent word, and I applied that to anger and confusion.

Yes, yes I do.

In general, though, not as a way to place emphasis on a point...I have a plethora of somewhat wittier and verbally dextrose literary excesses to use for that end. When I'm trying to tell a story, though, I tend to find the F-word slipping in where most people use 'um.'

"So yeah, fucking, I was talking to my friend, and fucking, he, fucking..."

It wins me many friends and admirers.

Only around children and other people who get uncomfortable because of it. Otherwise, I use normal words to express any sort of disdain.

Like a sailor. But only under my breath.

I am, however, fond of saying "Son of a-" and letting any passerby fill in the blank with whatever word they choose.

The correct word, however, is *****.

I go to a college so needless to say there are at least 3 people i regularly interact with who say the F word in every other sentence, ITS BLOODY STUPID!!! (bloody, you see? not swearing) If people swear all the time it becomes perfectly meaningless and you're left with nothing to show genuine anger except shouting and violence! So what about you? Do you swear?
If swearing gets on your nerves, stay the fuck off the internet bromosexual.
