Do you think you could get away with the perfect crime?

Assuming you've had time to plan it all out

Ohh and please refrain from creepy comments on how you would do it, just give a breif discription

Well C&P's perfect crime was
kill an old lady who owned a pawn shop that was having tax problems, right?

Man, I don't think I could hold the guilt. And according to Murphy's Law, what could go wrong will, and with Sod's Law it will be the worst possible time, and my bad luck would be that I couldn't pull it to start with.

Im sure people have got away with crimes before, and they were less than perfect. Really the perfect crime is kill a hobo, they often have no record, social security, next of kin, or even know who they are anymore. Thats the sad reality of being a homeless person in the US. (I am in no way advocating acts of violence)
Kill a hobo ey? The perfect crime.... My god you are right!

There is nothing to gain from killing a hobo though, they don't have anything, hence being a hobo! Unless you kill them for sport, but thats just weird.

I've already found a place that will most likely decompose bodies very fast. And i have informed a certain bastard friend of mine of said location...

Well if the crime were "perfect" then I suppose I'd have to get away with it. It really wouldn't be perfect at all if I didn't get away.

Yeah i think I could.

1) Get credit card info (work as a waiter or something, you only need the card for a few sec to take a pic of each side)
2) Use it to buy online goods (like WoW gold) move it around online, never use trackabel conenction
3) sell said WoW gold (or other virtual goods)
4) Profit

Alarmingly easy to do tbh.

So NEVER leave anyone you don't know and trust alone with your credit card. When i'm at a restaurent, and has to pay with credit card, i always follow the waiters so they're never alone with my card. I know they're most likely good people, but it's not worth taking chances, even if they look at you like you're some sort of paranid psycho.

EDIT: I assumed you ment all sorts of crime, and not just murder. I am not plannign on commiting any crime, but I think most people would much rather steal money than kill.

This sounds incredibly easy to trace and somewhat infeasible at the same time.

Using your example of wow gold: assuming your account isn't locked by blizzard you would have to somehow legitimately transfer all that gold back to another account. Since all transactions in MMOs are recorded as soon as the gold buying ring gets busted you lose.

Then coming to selling the gold... I'll be honest, this is an awful lot of work and risk for something that doesn't seem likely to give you much financial gain.

This may be a decent idea in theory, but finding an high value untraceable commodity to shift online seems somewhat unlikely at first glance.

Perfect crime for me, hmmm, tricky, haven't really done any research or planning, would need fairly large knowledge of customs and a position of trust in a company.

I would steal as much money as possible from the company, would have to be millions imo to make it viable. Then Convert as much as possible to cash and get it out the country. With the rest of the money spend like no tomorrow and get picked up by the police, when they ask where the cash went, make something up, do your time and when you're out go collect.

The major issue of course is the logistics of getting potentially several million pounds worth of cash through or around customs and then not getting caught when you leave prison and suddenly come into a large amount of cash.

Or I guess if you were good with numbers you could try card counting, lol.

Well technically you can't not get away with the perfect crime ..... because it's perfect.

I reckon that even though you might escape the authorities, you won't be able to escape your conscience (unless you don't have one which then opens a whole box of new issues to tackle).

I don't think I could. I'm simply not that good at planning... I'd leave something out and end up in the slammer (or dead).

I assume that if I were ever to kill someone, I would poison them so as to be as discreet as possible.

That said, I'd probably give myself away somehow. Knowing me, I'd drop my social security number and birth certificate at the scene of the crime.
