Cricket is a lot like Soccer or "Football" to Americans, we don't like it. Or care about it.

I understand the basics, and love playing it (nothing like a good game of Beach cricket), but when Australia's playing someone, I'll only flick over to check the scores. Except the 20/20. They just smash the shit out of the ball and its over before you get to bored.

I understand it, but it is one of the most boring "sports" in the world.

Yes. I used to play it back in the day. My best batting innings was 80 or so. The bowler kept sending perfect balls at me. Smacking them for 4s all day long.
Other sports I used to play: "Soccer", Softball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Tennis and I did High Jump on sports day a few times. I played field hockey because I always wanted to be an ice hockey player but I couldn't skate. =[

England did win by the way. It was a 5 game series and each game has two innings. I hate watching cricket btw but I live here so I know that.

I played quite a bit when I was youger and I always end up getting sucked into the ashes every time it comes around. I think I understand most of it.

Being Australian I have an OK grasp of the rules.

However, I think it hard to find a more boring game to watch and play. I mean, fuck, watching Darts is more entertaining than Cricket. I also watched the International Scrabble Championships and had more fun than watching Cricket

EDIT- PS. NFL RULES. GO Steelers!

Silly point? Long on? Mid off? Square Leg? It's like fricking code.
I'd expect to see those words while leafing through my fonts folder, not a sports report.

I don't know a thing about cricket. I'm an American, which may be a contributing factor. Then again, I also don't understand the infield fly rule or curling.

Does anyone actually understand curling?

I understand every word in this quote and yet IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.

Your poll is broken. I don't have an option for the way I feel. I do understand it but don't like it. So I clicked 'Yes, sort of' but that makes it look like a barely know. In future, know that polls should be left out unless really needed.

I have played cricket for a good ten years and can safely say it is my favourite sport. People who tell you it is difficult to understand are probably people who watched it for five minutes, decided it was boring and lost interest there. It's like everything else, if you play it you pick up the rules very quickly and if you watch it for any period of time you will do likewise. I didn't understand the rules of ice hockey when I first watched it but it is now my favourite sport to sit back and enjoy from the couch.
