I use facebook. It's a good way to get in touch with people who either moved away, are away at college or seeing what some friends are up to that I don't normally talk to often. :)

I use it, and I make occasional status updates, but I don't do those stupid "I:: Am at work. Work is boring!" or anything like that. I make normal comments like a would here, except they begin with my name.

I enjoy it, too, mostly for Mafia Wars. I just find it fun, even though it's incredibly simple. I can enjoy it because my friends make funny comments, as well as games, but mostly for Mafia Wars.

No Farmville, surprisingly. Always hated Farmville.

And I never add random people. If I don't know you, I won't add you.

Yes, though I don't care for social networking. As long as I don't get spam from the mailing service, I'll keep using it.

Fake name.
Fake name email.
Locked down.
No Friends.
No Games.
No Posts.

Merely a way to snoop around on people.
Snooping is in the Facebook Charter.

You know its people like you that make it creepy, right?
Thanks. I love you too sweetheart. Such a nice gentleman.

Turn on your 'dry humour radar.'
Facebook is an invasion of privacy.
Their policies verge on being immoral.

On Topic: I use Facebook, but do not like it.

I protect my privacy while being able to privately e-mail relatives and long lost mates.
Employers, co-workers, the government, ex-girlfriends, rude people, etc...
don't need to know who my friends are or have a syllabus of my life AND theirs.

Through fear of addiction and desire to remain as anonymous as possible online, I avoid all social networking sites like a bunch of social, Flash-game-ridden plagues.

I use it mostly because all my friends are too lazy to set up Instant messaging accounts, so I just Facebook to IM them.
Usually while playing something in windowed mode I might add...

It gets to be really distracting at times, but otherwise its useful as a way to contact friends with some degree of reliability.

I really just don't care about it and people look at me like I am legally insane when I say that.

I find it pretty handy. Saves me texting so much, good for posting large scale messages via statuses, good for long distance communication, and event planning.

It does get annoying at times though when people keep sending invites to farmville and stuff like that. Oh and the whiney emo statuses.

I had one, then tried to delete, but they won't let you. It just 'deactivates' it, which is entirely pointless when you can just sign in again and everything on your profile will be the same, and people can still see your profile when it's been deactived, which is pretty sucky considering I deleted it for privacy reasons mainly.

That just really pissed me off for some reason, and the entire website is pretty badly designed.
I am in the exact same boat as you. When my facebook account was "deactivated" I was like... "Okay..." Then, I logged back in, and everything was THE SAME! Why even have a deativate button if all it does it give the deactivater a false sense of security?

No. On both counts.

I believe that facebook has security issues, not to mention trolls browse those kind of sites looking for easy lulz.

I use it. Quite a lot >.<
I seem to find solace in being able to ***** about things with my friends on it, saving me the hassle of leaving the house and the credit of texting them. It's annoyingly distracting though, particularly when the alternative is university work.

I have one and I use it so friends and family can keep in touch. Like my MySpace it's basically another email address.

I know what you guys mean. Took me a while to find this: [link]https://ssl.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account[/link]
Not sure if I am really going to permanently delete my account, but I have removed a great deal of information, including pictures of myself. I rather dislike how much of my information was accessible to others. Anonymity does have its advantages sometimes...

But a different question: where does social networking end, and forums begin? I mean, we have profiles here, we can be friends, so how is this different from facebook? Granted, the 'like' spam is replaced by good ol' regular forum spam, but still...
