I watch Chuggaaconroy on Youtube because it's entertaining. Good commentary can make a video for me. I especially like that he's doing Okami now because it lets me see a game that I've never played before.

I watch LPs for 3 reasons. #1: They are a game that I can't afford right now and will probably forget about by the time I can afford it (Red Dead Redemption). #2: It's a game that I'm on the fence about getting (Borderlands). #3 and most common: They are a console exclusive that I don't have (which is the PS3). GameAnyone.com is my primary source for LPs, and I went there to see how the Heavy Rain story turned out, as well as Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. You will notice, all those are PS3 exclusives.

I prefer LPs without commentary because usually it's not relevant to what is happening in the game, and you can hear the actual game a hell of a lot better. If I want a walkthrough for a game that I have, but am trying to learn a new trick or technique, then I'll watch them with commentary so that I can get an explanation of what is being shown.

My biggest pet peeve about LPs is when the person playing the game doesn't seem to know what they're doing, which is why I insist that the ones that I watch be played on the hardest difficulty. That way the person can't blunder their way through the game.

Oh, there's also Internet Kraken's lets play of Dwarf Fortress, which is right here on this sight.

I think it's a fantastic LP, and that this site should host more of them.

Thus, I'm plugging <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.258867-Lets-Play-The-Elder-Scrolls-II-Daggerfall-Round-Four>my Daggerfall LP as hard as I can, hoping to gain the same notoriety for it as Internet Kraken.

(To anyone who's seen my many, many plugs all over the site, I'll stop plugging once I get some responsive viewers.)

Speaking of which, I'd comment more on it, but some dude linked to Daggerfall in the LP, and I've been playing that a lot. So yeah...

It depends. It seems like for every series that I've actually enjoyed there are a good few which adhere to things like:

*Being recorded on a terrible handycam

*Having either an unentertaining, sparse commentary or no commentary whatsoever (which sort of defeats the purpose)

*Doing games built almost solely around a strict, linear story

*Not trimming any fat, it's okay to leave some parts out or spice up your saved game behind the scenes if it means that I as a viewer don't have to sit through hours of repetitive gameplay or watch 70 different parts to a lets play wherein fifty of them consist of watching Alan wake spend 20 minutes trying to figure out a puzzle with a commentary that consists of screaming, mumbling and dry, desperate commentary

At the moment I've really been enjoying PaperBatVG's videos because they're varied, slick and quite fun to watch. So yeah, as long as they aren't padded, show a side of gameplay I usually wouldn't get to experience (or a game I'm probably never going to play that at least has some level of freedom to it) and have a good enough commentary then I tend to enjoy them.

Cr1tikal. That is all. He does mw2(which he can't stand), black ops, and bc2 videos, along with commentary on really weird or stupid games.

Between this and QWOP I nearly experienced a literal ROFL.

I watch let's plays of games that offer a large degree of customization. It's fun to see how others tackle a situation and how it compares to you. Also, some people really do have talent as commentators and are legitimately funny and entertaining.

Wow. It would seem that my LP was a bit too successful, if everyone ran off to play it five rounds in.

lets plays are a good way of watching a game that you could never find or get. Sometimes I just watch them for comedic value like these guys: http://www.tippingforties.com/

I watch them for comedy though usually. I like Gameinformer.com's Replay feature. Not a full Let's Play, but they do Super Replays which are. I recommend "Overblood," a terrible PS1 survival horror game.

Yes. Specifically, I watch Naka and Ogre, as well as UmbreonMessiah. A few others too, but these are my mains.

Not only do I watch them I make them small time. I use them for games I know I will never be able to get like really old or foreign ones. Plus some are quite hilarious. One of my favorites is a guy by the name of Freezing Inferno. He is hilarious.
