Poll: Do you wear a watch

I don't wear a watch, I sweat a lot which makes them uncomfortable to wear (that and I also wear a wrist based pedometer) and I also have my phone on me 90 percent of the time, so I really don't need one. That being said, I do have a few pocket watches and really love the clockwork mechanics of mechanical watches, it's fascinating to me.

Fuck yeah I do, this beauty.

It's an automatic, which means it uses the wearer's movements to keep the spring wound, but you can also do so manually, there's something that can be said about a watch that needs no batteries, clockwork is fascinating to watch :3

I have a TAG Heuer Professional 4000 that was given to me on my 21st. I wear it whenever I leave the house as it becomes a complete pain in the ass when using a keyboard. I think it's great, I don't like flashy watches.

I used to ... but now I find them bulky. And if I need to examine the time, I often need to message people due to constraints of said time, so my mobile works out great.

When on time off, I usually switch off my mobile so as to give me a few hours of feeling alone, even in the city or with friends. It's ike ... time is something I'm ruled by during my working life, and now at uni. But not feeling constrained by time is my way of relaxing, I guess? So I tend to avoid clocks and watches as much as possible during my time off work or study.

I used to, but I kept on forgetting to wear it or rewind it. Eventually I just completely forgot about it and here we are. It was handy whilst I wore it, but I use my phone now.

I can't wear watches, regardless of what kind of strap I'm using my wrist will always break out into a rash. It was really annoying growing up in the 90s and having to wear a watch when I went to summer camp every year.

Nowadays I use my phone as my time telling/everything device.

All my watches are broken, which upsets me massively. I do love my swatch watches, and getting straps for them is a ballache.

I also got a longines watch for my 21st which is so freaking sweet, and a watch that opens like a music box.

I have had my iPod watch for like 5 years now. I love it! I think it looks pretty cool, my students at school think its the best thing ever and I can listen to my music whenever I feel like (if I also bring headphones).

Yes, absolutely. Its an essential accessory, there are two main things that express how well turned out a guy actually is. Fancy, flashy or designer clothes don't matter because the watch and shoes tell the real story.

You can tell a lot by both of those, expense =/= taste either as its about how the rest of the outfit reflects upon those choices.

RRP is about £200 I think, but I got it for like £145.

Sheesh, you call that the affordable class? You rich ************. Seems like I'll have to stare at that gorgeous thing like a Dickens child staring through a toy store window for quite some time to come. Some day...

£150-300 is comfortably within the "affordable" range for a decent watch, Timex and Casio are just cheap junk but a decent Rotary/Breitling/Citizen (maybe even a used but still certified Omega at the upper end of that) can be as good as a £3000 Rolex Oyster in terms of quality if not "prestige".

I have a collection of inherited watcher from 1917 do 1968, i have several I got as gifts including Festinas, Fossils and Sectors

Yet I like wearing cheap (Chinese) watches because I break them. Currently wear these depending on occasion.And surprisingly, other than the last one which was 3USD anyway and bought for the shape, all of them are solid performers and really resistant to any damage including scratches and look quite good.

Yes, have had the same one for about 7 years now and I've taken it off about 4 times during that time.
It's dust proof, water proof and shock proof, it's a durable quite basic digital watch made with handy work in mind. It can really take a beating and I love it for it.

It's not that I always need to know the time, but it is just easier to look at my wrist than it is to pull up a phone when I do need to know. Also it's gotten to the point that since I've always had one on my hand I feel really naked and exposed without it, it's weird.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I also wear it the "wrong way" (with the clock on the same side as my palm). It is not normal to do so, but I've always found it easier to twist my hand the other way, and wearing it that way keeps it from getting caught on stuff as it's less exposed.

No, but that's more because I can't really afford one right now. I don't need one (who does these days, anyway?), but I'd like one. Perhaps if I get a proper job sorted I might buy one as a present to myself (definitely not sad). Something nice but not too flashy- I always think flashy watches make you look like a lawyer, and no one wants that.

Considering how much our society is RULED by the clock, I wanna have access to know what time it is at all times super easily.

The only time I don't wear a watch is when I'm at home all day from school, and just never put it on, because I have a clock on my PC.

Aside from that, I ALWAYS wear a watch. It's not a super badass one either. I don't care about that crap. I just want one that's comfy and can tell time, preferably also has the date on it. That's all I need.

I've worn a watch every time I've left the house since 2004. Same watch, its gonna crush me when it inevitably dies. Just became a habit and now it is sort of a momento.

Nope.

I do Parkour, so watches would easily get broken and scratched with all of the climbing and jumping I do.
I stopped wearing watches years ago though so that's not exactly a problem, I've got my phone for the time, and even if I don't, it's not like I can't just ask someone else what the time is.

I've pretty much always worn a watch. I feel naked without one, but mainly it's because they are convenient. I only just got my proper nice watch last Christmas. A Hawker Hunter one which is beautiful. The northerner in me, however is more excited by the fact that it was £90 for what is normally a £250 watch

I have my grandfather's watch. I never really had anything left from him when he died. I remember that I had good times with him when I was a kid, but other than that?not much.

And then, my dad arrived with it. I loved it the moment that I saw that golden marvel. It probably needs a polish though.

As a potentially interesting bit of trivia, I watched The Quick and the Dead the other day, and there's a scene where three pocket watches are opened and checked in quick succession...the third of which, a Waltham, happens to have the same watch face as my Great-Grandfather's Waltham.

Sort of a neat "I have that one!" moment...

I used to wear a (really cheap) watch, back in high school. However once I left school, I started picking up casual shifts at a local production facility and one of the site rules forbade wearing any jewellery, so once I started getting regular shifts, I stopped wearing it. I think I've still got it somewhere, however it'll need a new wrist strap and battery, because it hasn't been used in years (I graduated in 2004).

I four watches, but never wear them. I have thin wrists, so most mens' watches usually just flop around on me. I also hate the feeling of a watch sliding down my arm if I raise it, even if it's only an inch or two. I dunno why.
