My mom does, mainly puzzle games. My dad feels that they are evil and perverse though, but I haven't spoken to him in almost a decade now.

My parents hate computers and think they are the route of all evil in the world today. Seriously I kid you not.

My dad used to game when I was a lot younger. He was mostly into PC stuff like Half Life, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty 1, Command and Conquer, etc. Even though he wasn't a hardcore gamer, it's cool that we have that in common because gaming is a big part of my life. Even though he hasn't touched a game in years now.

Other than that, my parents play games like Wii Sports and Rock Band once in a blue moon.

No. In fact, one of the rules related to gaming in this household is that games can only be played when neither of them are there. I am often convinced I live with the Anti-Christ's of gaming. It's a bloody wonder I manage to sneak in what little time I get.
Still, while the rent remains cheap, I'm not going anywhere just yet.

yes yes yes they do. Rather well I might add. Dad plays an pwns at MMO's like WoW and isnt too partial to an FPS either. His favourite is by far, Half-Life 2. Mum on the other hand, loves puzzle games from Professor Layton and the like, to point and click adventures. She's also a high-score crushing demon when it comes to Facebook games. :)

Most of the yes votes seem to be coming from casual gaming moms. Should we be worried that so few people who are really into games seem to have had children?

I voted "No" and then realised that's a damn lie. Dad plays a formula 1 game on the Wii. Mum...well...when we got the first Harry Potter game on the PS1 she gave it a try...she couldn't get out of the training level. Apart from that she plays TriPeaks on the computer, but that's technically a card game. I'm gonna try and get them both to have a go at Portal though, I think they'll both enjoy it for different reasons.

My partner's mum is a huge Wii enthusiast, and also has some fairly decent PS2 games which I have now borrowed 'cause her Playstation broke. It makes going round there awesome.

My parents don't play games, they had a phase when I was a kid where I couldn't pry my gameboy from their hands as they went through a Tetris addiction, but otherwise, it skipped a generation, my grandad on my dad's side still plays (he's 70) and is responsible for my love of point and click gaming, as he introduced me to Monkey Island, Sam and Max and the Dig.

My dad used to play:

Age of Empires (I think he did)
Neverwinter Nights
Half Life
Half Life 2
and a fair few Medal of Honour games (He says 'nothing like shooting some Nazis to blow off steam' - a smart man!)

But i voted 'No' because he doesnt anymore, I wouldnt define him as a gamer really.

They do kind of, since I bought them a Wii for Christmas a couple of years ago, so sometimes they'll play some Wii Sports Resort. My dad is more into stuff like Space Invaders and other arcade classics, so I bought him one of those Plug and Play systems and he used to spend ages on that. But he stopped after a while when I beat his high score first time.

Nope, they don't. My dad played some FPS's once, but he was so bad at it that he just gave up. I dont think that my mother ever played a video game before. I believe she played Mario Kart for the Wii once or twice, but thats it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I made her play the first couple of stages in Amnesia a couple of weeks ago, I dont think she enjoyed that :/

My mom used to play Mario and Zelda on the NES, and she plays the Harry Potter games on the DS. Apart from that, she just plays Farmville.

My dad used to play Wolfenstein 3D and that's about it. Apart from my mom's interest in the Harry Potter games and Farmville, she doesn't play games, nor does she understand a lot of them I play. For example, I play League of Legends, and there's been about 15 separate times when she asked me to save and take the dog out, or some equivalent chore. And don't get me started about when I raided on WoW. I had to convince her that the other 24 people I was talking to on vent were real SEVERAL times.

Does Larn (the original one) count? Because my mum really loves Larn (the original one).

Oh, how I wish they would; definitely would've made bonding with them easier. They're very much more likely to pressure me into getting strait-A's (at high school I did, but at college that's asking too much) and constantly look down on video games like they're completely worthless. They don't even play casual games in their free time, just watch sports games or sit around and do basically nothing. The one time they tried playing was at a New Years party with Guitar Hero, to which they quickly became disinterested in when they couldn't beat "Smoke on the Water" on easy.
Do we have the same parents or something? I'm pretty sure we have the same parents.
