Depends. I still play and love Pokemon and that's considered a kiddie game by some. Most of the time, kiddie games are like kiddie movies where they don't care about the content and just try to market it towards kids and forget about the quality. So not always, but most of the time.

I would say usually. There are E-rated games that are interesting and not shallow, but most "kiddie" games are just based or ripped off of existing material and done poorly.

Not always, there are plenty of 'Kiddie' games out there that are plenty of fun.

And this is precisely why games with a easygoing, child like aesthetic don't sell. "Naw, that game looks kiddy, so I'm sure it's shit". Look at Little King's Story, Viva Piñata, Scribblenauts, Ratchet and Clank, Mario, and so on.
